Terrabyte drive finally under £100

Got my weekly email from ebuyer this week, a decent terrabyte drive for £99.99, and free postage. So truely under £100.

Im still running 3x 80GB drives on my PC, perhaps time to upgrade?

That is a good deal. Im running 2 x 60GB internal HDD in my laptop, and an 300GB SATA internal, in an external casing with cooling fan. Maybe time to upgrade seeing as HDD lifespan is only around 5 years, and my SATA is approaching 6 years now.

I was thinking how its come on in leaps and bounds. Although Im thinking this may be near the pinnacle of hard disks. Maybe the next progression is all about something like racetrack memory?

Having computer componants with moving parts (fans not included) seems to be dated imo.

They will probably start using some kind of flash drive as an hard drive soon. Already seen some test videos of such, and boot up time is under 5 seconds on windows xp

its the ssd, or solid state disk. commercially available now, but i wouldn't say its ready for prime time yet. traditional harddisks are still way cheaper compared to ssds. of course there're pros and cons between those two. we'll see where this takes off in the near future
