Some motoway miles this week!

Well this week, starting from Monday gone, I drove to london and back which is around 408 miles return.

Today I've driven to Newcastle and back which is around 290 miles

and Saturday I am driving to Hollyhead in Wales, which is 120 miles, on a ferry then off there for another 200 miles return back to the ferry for another 120 miles home

So within a week I'll be driving Just over 1000 miles within 6 days, that's some going for me I tell you!

not a competition or anything, but last year a work colleague and I drove 2500 miles in 3 days!!

we did a trip to slovakia and didn't want to stay the weekend.

funniest thing was that during the first nights driving we decided we would keep going until the small hours of the morning when we would look for a roadside hotel to stop. At the last fill up at a garage we figured that by the time we stopped (expected to be 3 in the morning) everything would be closed and so we took the oportunity to grab some beer in the garage.

found a hotel, checked in...as we suspected everything was closed so we were glad we had picked up the beer.....managed to get the tops off (no bottle opener between us), took a swig and nearly died with laughter. In our inefficiency with the german language, we had somehow managed to buy 8 bottles of non-alcoholic lager!!

My long distance claim to fame took place about 25 years ago. The pupose of the trip was to have a look at how some Cold Store operators treated our stock.
Thursday: I left home, here in York, about 7:00am and drove to Edinburgh. Visited CS#1 during early afternoon. drove out to Edinburgh airport and caught the 5:00pm flight to London Heathrow. Arrived London city hotel and stayed overnight.
Friday: Left hotel and drove out to Elstree and visited CS#2 mid morning. Then drove up to Leicestershire and visited CS#3 mid afternoon. Drove back to York and arrived early evening.

Total distance - about 1000 miles in 2 days, by one aeroplane and 2 hire cars!
