Question Anyone know how I can update my Laptop bluetooth drivers so they are A2DP ?

Been struggling getting my new Gear4 Blackbox bluetooth speakers to work with my Acer Aspire 5112WLMi, which has built in bluetooth. I suspect I have out of date bluetooth drivers installed.

Does anyone know if I can update these at all?

The current bluetooth set up works perfectly with both my phones, but cannot get the blackbox to work, which has a requirement of A2DP.

This is my current settings..

Any help appreciated.

Not so Lame actually. I re-installed a Fujitsu recently and there were no bluetooth drivers installed by Windows. Spoke to Fujitsu to get the drivers and they told me they didn't supply them!

Apparently some license agreement with Toshiba for their Bluetooth Stack? Eventually got the drivers from Fujitsu via Toshiba.

I got the drivers and though nothing more about it. The other 99% of our Laptops are Dell and we have no such issues - The drivers are right there, but something to think about, eh.

Did you know that your Nokia comes with a 2 year warranty? Did you know that Carphone Warehouse are Nokia Repair Centres?

Cheers guys. yes, tried the Acer site, but the drivers they have to download are from 2006, so quite old.

Anyway, I have managed to update them, so now, instead of having the following driver...

Broadcom Bluetooth 2.0 EDR USB Dongle, I have the following. What difference it will make is yet to be seen..

Im yet to still try my blackbox again. Will try later today and let you know Gav how I get on.

One thing might be to interrogate the Blackbox once it's paired and see what services it thinks are supported. Mine says something like 'audio sync' I think that's what it says from memory. I'll get some more detail if you have to look down this route.

Well I tried again today, and it wouldn't even pair now.

While your here Gav, could you take a screenshot of your Bluetooth drivers that you have in Vista Business please?

Are you using a external dongle, or built in bluetooth-?

Its frustrating not being able to play my music from my laptop, as all my music is stored on an external 300GB SATA drive, which I connect to my laptop. Ive had the blackbox working with the lead with jack plugs, but its not what i wanted to do, I wanted wireless.

Also, do you have any idea what the mini usb lead is for that came with the blackbox? Theres no mention of it at all in the manual, and when i connected it up to my pc, the device was unknown, and no driver could be found. Looked on blackbox's home page, and there nothing on there either.

Sure mate. I'll fire up the Laptop when the kids have gone to bed. (little greasy chocolate covered fingers don't go well with my nice clean Laptop!)

Bluetooth is built in.

As for USB, the website says "Firmware upgradeable via mini USB port". But nothing more as far as I can see quickly scaning. Suppose it might be for a future date, when they release a firmware upgrade. Good idea.

Gav, you my friend are a star.! Appreciated. Working with your above screenshots, I should now be able to cross check everything. My Finnish is not great you see, so these will help. As to the drivers, I will look to see if I can find the exact drivers your using, and then implement them into my system.

Thanks again

Micky
