There is far to many of you being logical.

I guess I am a self confessed Nokia freak, each time a new one comes out. I HAVE to have it. ha!

Just going to wait for a proper upgrade. This is my first Nokia for years, and i love it. The N96 though doesnt appeal to me as an upgrade. I would have a few question marks about the new samsung, so im going to just sit on my cheap contract until a handset worth getting comes out.

my gurl was checking the N96 specs today and she call me saying:

"owhh i want to get this phone, it's so hot!"

and i'm going :

b****h didnt i got you a N95 about 5 months ago! ahhahaa.

To be honest my contract expires in a year or so but i'm happy with my N95. Like i read somewhere in this thread, im not really impressed with the "differences" of the N96.

Also i dont know if is just me only but the N96 has some sort of look from the ipod touch, and if i get the N96 people probably thinking is like the bootleg from the ipod touch.

As of now, every person that sees my phone or know about nokia always gives me a positive comment about my smart phone. I'll just wait for a better upgrade.

Sticking with this til the xperia comes out. And even then i worry it won't match up personally for me, i think the n95 will still be in the handbag... I'm no way going for the 8gb or n96.

Just been through it. N95 is still in working order, Better than when I took delivery of it in fact (curse v11!). I wanted the true upgrade to the N95, the N82, but it wasn't avalilable on O2. So I signed up for a 12 month contract.

More minutes than I need
Daft amount of texts
Unlimited Data
No handset
£30 for the year - all in.

Just shows to go you how much of the "line rental" goes toward the handset eh.

Two years ago I would have gone crazy for the N96, but now I'm older, I'm looking at what extras it can give me, and it's not worth the money. If I wanted to waste money on a device that doesn't hit the mark, the iPhone is already available.

But I think it will sell well, there's enough hype flying around and if it's as good as the N95, at least it will be a decent device - even if Nokia did forget to upgrade anything important.

It's Broke?

Did you know that your Nokia comes with a 2 year warranty? Did you know that Carphone Warehouse are Nokia Repair Centres?
Damage from normal use: wobbly slider, broken keys, quiet earpiece etc... will be repaired for free, and usually the same day if you take it to a big store!

I think I just might jump ship over to the Samsung Omnia i900.

I was waiting patiently for the Nokia 5800 tube to come out...but the specs are hardly exciting. No multi-touch, only 3.2 mpx camera. WTF?

I've had the N95 for a year and half now. I love it...but i'm a big txter since I got a gf (more like I hafta reply to her inane amount of "Hey baby! Whatcha doing?" all day).

With the Samsung Omnia coming in at close to $700, touchscreen, + 5mpx camera...I think that's the one for me. No way am I going to apple...and the HTC diamond is wayyyyy too fingerprint friendly.

I'm giving the Tube 1 more week. If I get a launch date, more specs, or a beta version video working somewhere..i'll give it more thought, otherwise i'm goin over to Sammy.

Plus symbian kinda kicked itself in the foot with the whole developer cert. issue it made, and Apple and windows have thrown it's doors open to developers. So just gotta be smart about it, and say goodbye to Symbian. I might revisit Nokia it if the Tube UI mimics apple's UI...but even that seems unlikely. :(

I will be sticking with my N95.Nothing on the market comes close to it at the moment. The N96 looks pretty but is it worth the upgrade to?
Think i will wait until spring next year and see what comes along.

Waiting from a better upgrade to come along, although, I quite fancy that Samsung INNOV8, or the SE C902. Either one, they are very nice phones.

I'm the same as IJM, I love being at the top of the technology side, and the N95 was for me. I got it a week after it came out in the UK iirc, and have loved it!

But I think its not worth me upgrading yet, until a proper upgrade is released.

It's been mentioned before, quite a few times- the Tube is not intended to be a high-end device. It's really intended to be touch device for the mass market. It's going to be cheap- it's not going to satisfy very many N95 users- certainly not the sort that visit this forum. The touch device that users like ourselves are going to be waiting for will follow it- hopefully not to far after... but this is not intended to satisfy high-end mobile users- just to bring touch to the masses.

If you're referring to a QWERTY Nseries device that rivals the specs (or better!) of the N95- this is in the works according to many sources. Not much information on it.

Not likely to get a launch date- Nokia doesn't really do that much. Rumors and certain actions by Nokia heavily point towards announcements on certain dates- but they really don't announce announcement dates in advance. That's Apple marketing. At any rate- I think we're hearing Sept-Oct release for the 5800.

I really don't agree with this. Apple hasn't really 'thrown the door open' to developers. It might seem like it at first glance- but if you listen to what Apple tells you... ;)

At any rate- there's a reason for developer certification. The ranting on this kinda gets old. There's over 8 THOUSAND apps available for S60 that don't need to be signed- aside from something like 'rotateme' (which is cool I'll admit- but is it really going to push you to Samsung or elsewhere because Samir can't get it signed?) or hacked software- what do you need signed?

Anyway- RE: all the N96 'upgrade' talk... anyone like to play games on the N95?

YouTube - N95 vs N96: Gaming

Whatley's video is well worth a look. Clearly the N96 isn't up to spec of the N95 on several counts. There's advancements sure- but aside from the confusing numerology Nokia uses- this should just NOT be considered an upgrade for an existing N95 user IMO... unless they have a decent charge left in the device at the end of a day (smaller battery than N95 8GB and NAM variants) and don't care for gaming (no 3d acceleration). If FP2 a kickstand and the styling of the N81 do it for you- by all means... but it's not going to replace my N95.
