iphone army up in arms

A look at risk-reward: Apple may nuke apps on your iPhone remotely | Between the Lines | ZDNet.com

It seems that the iphone has a trick up its sleeve unbeknown to it's users....until now lol

Hmmm. Personally I dont see what the fuss is about. As long as its used well, so be it.

However, what concerns me is what does that say about the vetting process for applications into the app store?

If theres any bad ones, they simply shouldnt be in there. After all, its not hard to test for bugs and virii, given that its on a single platform on a single phone, or 2 if you count the original iphone.

Exactly right, mate. Though is this about bad software being out there, or illegally obtained software?

If it's the former- what a joke... I thought that was the whole point of locking it down? :-\

Either way... I don't think it's very cool. I get it- but it's an odd and creepy measure to take. What's next- bricking FFS?

Apperently you can get 'web apps' which are not got through the app store, and presumably not checked.

Im not sure how much access the web apps are given however.

As usual though, Apple operates in its own universe. Just imagine if Microsoft had a blacklist of apps and could nuke software remotely.
I think this is a fair point....I mean this kind of thing from MS would probably see them in court again. But it's Apple so it must be OK? lol

Bah, no one here should be surprised by this. The sadly ignorant buying public however will probably be alarmed to discover this...
