Phones4u paying off a contract?

I hear that Phones 4 u can pay off the remainder of a contract if you only have 3 months left.

Whats the catch?

My contract ends 28th Jan 2009, could I qualify this month?

**Probably** no catch. But why would you want to?

You would lose any minutes/texts/data that you have, and still pay the same amount.

Your much better off sending them a letter telling them you wish to finish your contract on xxx date (when the earliest you can finish it is).

Edit: Ignore all that, do you mean phones for you paying off your current contract, with someone else?

Yes, my current contract with those ghastly Orange. Apprantley if you have 3 months left, they[phones4u] pay it off and you start a new contract with a new phone.

(Not only that but Orange are in the bad books with me again!)

Hmmm. I have heard of that before, but I cannot imagine theres no catch.

I imagine the deal isnt so good that they offer. Afterall, they are having to pay £90 - £105 (£30 or £35 contract?) they are going to cut down on something.

they do indeed lovely , i done it with them once and walked out of the shop with 180 pound cash and a brand new n82 however i took it back when i realised how rubbish orange was and exspensive they were compared to 02

heres what they are allowed to do

offer you 150 pounds maxium to buy out your contract , as long as you take out a contract in the region of 45 a month with them for 18 months the phone you choose will also have an impact on how uch they can give you for example they said they could only offer me 100 pounds if i took the n82 , i argued though and said dont worry about it and they rung through for authorisation to allow the 150 pounds

my experience wasnt very good with them , i made 2 offical complaints to their customer services , they are proper dodgy salesman and my girlfriend said she would never go back after the way we was treated by them

go in their with your eyes open and youll be ok and should be able to get a good deal

they give you the cash to buy out your contract , tell them your on 50 a month deal at the mo and you need the 150s cash to cancel the contract and get yiour puk code they will probs be more then happy to help you out as long as your taking out that 18month 45s a month contract with them

and dont take any rubbish they try an give you like i say they are proper trained salesman that almost lie to get the deal

also with their insurance theirs a catch here , they offered me the 1st three months for nothing and even gave me 30 pounds to pay for this out of the till so as soon as i got home i cancelled it kept the 30 quid and rung up orange and took out their 5 pound a month insurance so theres a chane for a quick buck to be made there too

i had to give back the 180 pounds and the n82 because i was so unhappy witht he service and the tariff they had put me on

ive had mates that have done it and they have been fine , infact three that i can think of have done it , one got the n95 8gb and two got the n95-1 , all recieved 150 pounds cash and the phone that day , all they had to do was ring up their operator and ask for the puk code when they recieved that they got their final bill , i wouldnt spend the 150s though as youll have two phone bills for three months

just go in there and ask loads of questions about it

its a good deal though if youre after a new phone and want out of that contract they also do some good handsets oh and they offer an upgrade after 15 months which is handy

hope that helps a bit mate

have a good day and good luck with them :-)

£150 max. Thats ok for me!

And no doubt it'll have to be a £45 contract to start with, but I dont mind that!

Thank you for taking the time to tell me all that!

hi just thought i would add, i went to them for the same reason, had an N73 and two months left on my contract and wanted a N95 badly! they told me i could get the phone for free and the last two months of my contract paid off(or more to be more accurate, refunded). An hour and a half later and lots of too and frowing i walked out with the phone for £30 and it took five phone calls, six visits into the shop and SIX MONTHS before they finally sent me a check for £60.
my advise is good things come to those who wait!

P.s after i took the phone home and played with it for a day it sat on the table for about four months and i carried on using the 73..... then i discovered this fantastic site. now the 73 has been retired and i've got the phone i thought i was getting. i don't really post on here so i'll take this opportunity to thank everyone that has educated me in alll things N95.

thanks
