**New scam for phones

Not something thats been hugely common in the past, but its definatly making a stronger appearance.

Recieving a text saying something about your bank, your account has been compromised, you are a payment overdue and will incur charges, etc etc.

Anything to get you to ring up.

So, a very similar bit of advice from spam. From a suspect email, never ever click on links, always find the proper website and login via that.

In this case, always look up the proper number for your bank if you think there might actually be a problem. Never use the one in the text, or any links they send you.

Also, beware of any links friends send you, as a virus is doing the rounds.

I do have my doubts however. Especially since F secure yesterday announced they have released a version compatible with 5th edition.

And how the hell would a virus get a signed cert?

Still, if you get a text from a friend with a link in it, best to double check they meant to send it.

The thing is that some Banks are helping these scammers.

Credit Card companies will text when you are late with a payment etc.

As has been said. Don't rely on the number you are being sent.

Lots do, but thats beside the point. Some people just don't expect to be scammed from their mobile.

The majority that use this site are most likely savvy enough not to be had, but it would be a good idea to let other family/friends know, especially those that are not up to speed with technology.

I'm pretty sure my gran might get caught with it. She is alert to spam etc on email. But not the mobile.

Many younger people get caught up in these scams not just older ones like your Gran.I guess we are honest and trusting far to much.

Yes.. I saw a news on tv yesterday night.

It is a type of trojan which is used to steal user's date from the mobile phone.
Sepecially those who use mobile banking. :(
This virus has reached to India and will gradually spread over the countries.
Antivirus companies are working hard to fight with this one.

Hope they will find a way soon...
