Will wait till Christmas, and things have settled down, when I think I will be going back again for a 100th birthday.

Sam.
Am flying into Gatwick, which I am told is nearly as bad as Heathrow. Will certainly be spending a bit of time in the Nokia store, bit like yourself, just can't flip in and out and need to get a good look at Mr G's headphones. Shame there in a glass case aren't they?
Thanks for the update on the weather, will be checking it out before I go. Can't say Im looking forward to it, It's all that messing about at the airports, I know it's all necessary, but still a pain.

Micky.
Wer'e only going back for a 70th birthday, Dreading the the funerals starting!!!!!!!!, comes with age I suppose LOL.
im about half an hour from gatwick LOL yes its as bad... and yes i did see g's headphones...

Great Britain isn't called Great for no reason! :) England is one of the best countries in the world!

I grew up in Italy where the sun was always shining but I never appreciated life as much as I do being in London..

Honestly, the only stereotype about Brits I can confirm is that you're never happy!

Sorry Cal I just cannot agree with you, without getting into the political arguments Re: Immigrants and Ghettos ETC

It's just become, to me, RIP OFF BRITAIN.

First time back in 3 years and the rip of started on arriving at the train station, needed to use the toilet,

30 pence 30P for a pee,

£4.20p a pint of lager - There's many more but I would be here all day,

Everyone rushing about pushing and shoving, don't get me started on the ignorance of people towards the disabled, the London underground is the most unfriendly place as far as Disability access is concerned.

But the straw to break the camels back is this Holiday Inn we're in at the moment.
Brought my own laptop, to get connected to Internet has cost me £15 Pound for 24 hour connection. £75 for a weeks connection, Or I could use the hotels computers for £6 per hour.

Scandalous prices all round.

I WANT TO GO HOME. Only two days to go.

Final Edit.

"Honestly, the only stereotype about Brits I can confirm is that you're never happy!"

You are absolutely right on that score Cal, and as far as I could see it is with good reason, businesses seem to be so wrapped up in Ripping the public off in the UK that there seems to be a survival of the fittest culture at the moment. I can honestly say that, although I have a couple of hard earned pensions, I could not live the life style I have, and envisioned for myself and my partner, in the UK.

I genuinely feel for the way the elderly are treated by some of the public in general and I have to say it, especially the young (17 to 25 age groups), there's little or no respect shown towards them by way of allowing for age and infirmity, Im talking London now.
I and my partner are fortunately, reasonably fit and active, don't need any walking aids, Yet, which we are eternally grateful for, but as an example

The most unfriendly, and allegedly hub of the capital, The Underground transport system, If you are disabled and wheelchair bound, forget it.

Our experience comes from taking a trip up to Regents Street to the Nokia store for the day, which after visiting it and torturing myself at the awesome display, and must say the friendly staff, We gave up after a couple of hours and went home.

Did manage to buy a BF300 Bluetooth Speakerphone, that works perfect I might add, missed Paul's headphones display, they've moved it on.

Anyway all in all, after just 3 years We found that living in the UK has had it for us, and the only way I personally want to go back there for good is in a black body bag.

Sorry if that offends anyone, but it's just not the place I spent previous 70 odd years.

Rant Over. Thanks for reading. If you got this far.

Wink More Rip Offs.

Oh Forgot to mention

Cigarettes £7 a packet, as opposed to equivalent to £3 packet here.

Rolling tobacco up to £14 a packet. as opposed to equivalent of £5 here

Petrol £1.04 as opposed to equivalent of £0.89 here.

So if I want to pack up smoking and driving I should come back I suppose

Not to mention the road tax which is €37 per year, for our Renault Scenic, with some of the finest motorways in Europe I might add.

CD.
