Geegs and Trolls
Quote:
His test "walk around" and images was the decisive factor for me to not to go with iPhone. I replaced my Canon pocket camera with N95 simply as it is always with me and image quality is decent (and I take a lot of pictures). That Nerd is on his own class and makes his living by telling stories. Still some of the are on the spot, but you may understand what I say. As he is famous to be blogging and if he says after first day that iPhone is useless nobody reads his web-page any more in US (as it is so highly hyped and everybody must have one). I just would like people to really think what they want and what they are getting. I love Apple to push Nokia (and others) to do something to their products to get rid of this ridigulous usability issues (like forever taking boot time - it feels that the darn thing has booted after the immigration queue has been passed). Maybe now users are listened on usability, which some companies didn't do earlier. Still no iPhone for me - as I have too many useless gadgets already on the shelf. BR, DV |

I agree... the iPhone is the best thing that has ever happened to Nokia. But those on the blog that are saying that Nokia is worried, and that iPhone is rattling their cages- that's just absurd. Nokia sitting on top of the world probably isn't concerned in the least about Apple and the 1% of the market share they may have down the road.
If anything, it's good for Nokia. They'll realize that if spend a billion dollars calling a turd a work of art and the most advanced piece of technology in the known universe, Americans will stand in line for five days and buy two of them. Couple that with a device that actually is what it claims to be, and Nokia will start selling phones again. Apple did this country a favor by getting people excited about high-end technology in the mobile world and then dropping the ball. That being said, Scoble is obviously a massive tool. This is one of the first blog entries I've read from him, and the absolute last. He's a joke as far as I'm concerned. I wish him the best with his blog- but it's not for me, just like the iPhone. Best of luck to Apple as well, but Nokia ain't shaking in their boots.

I try to be open minded about the iPhone. I'm sure it's good for what it is, and for the Apple die hards and fan bois. But the funniest thing is reading the reviews from those who got their iPhones, all pissing themselves about how bright the screen is or how they got interviewed by the news while camping in line. I mean, they don't even care about what the phone can or can't do, they're just mesmerized. With a following like that, the iPhone can't miss in the marketplace. Also, whenever their phones have problems, those iSheep start cursing AT&T. They don't dare disparage Mr. Jobs, their Dear Leader.

It seems that Amazon have secured the iPhone instruction-manual franchise.
It certainly appears to identify a specific target-market! Amazon.com: |

Speaking of cursing AT&T... I've been having some problems with EDGE today. Apparently the iPhone has crashed the service in a lot of major cities due to the massive amount of data people are foolishly trying to pull down with that toy.
I'll agree with you hatrabbit, it's good for what it is, but it just claims to be so much more, and Steve Jobs has done a lot of outright lying about what it does and what others do not. I have a problem with that, and when some blogging tool claims the iPhone is so much more than my beloved N95. I do like what you said about being amazed by a bright screen and getting all hyped about being on the news, not about what the iPhone can do. That's just adorable of them. The fact is, they're not concerned about what the iPhone can't do, because they're not aware of what a smartphone can do. If you guys haven't seen the video over at myphonerocks.com that Paul Whitaker took of those poor souls in line for the iPhone, you need to do so now. You won't regret it!!

sp00K- Awesome- iPhone (is) for Dummies! I saw an interview somewhere with the guy that wrote that **** thing. He's a bit of a dummy himself.
How great that the thing needs a Dummies guide... I thought the UI was supposed to be so easy that even a caveman could use it? edit- BTW, Salada2k- nice job on the trackback from Scoble's blog to here... I wonder how many apple fanboys we have here doing some Tuesday trolling tomorrow. :(

I don't even remember. Indeed, I was thinking about that just a few minutes ago... who was that massive, massive tool?
I guess I just bring out the "best" in bloggers... LOL! The best part is that while he's probably in a tizzy wherever he hails from, furiously typing on his keyboard, I'm finding this whole discussion completely amusing! Cheers to all the douchebag bloggers of the world. Who decided to give these tools a spotlight anyway?!? I love it!

Heh... alright, it's late- my very pregnant wife has a doctor's appointment at 8 in the morning tomorrow, so I'm off- just wanted to leave you all with this last bit on this subject- then I think we've discussed this whole iPhone vs N95 thing enough. Obviously the iPhoners aren't going to realize that they've over paid for an over hyped device. Despite how pretty it is, it's obviously a joke to the smartphone world, but they'll never get that. Try to tell them, they'll devote sections of their blogs to personally attacking those who understand this whole thing...
Anyway- what I wanted to say is this. Scoble is a funny, funny man. Thanks for the link, Scoble... thanks for the link, and thanks for the laughs. Good night all.
