NOKIA 3G booklet, is anyone using it?

Any one using this yet?

Just looking for some feedback on it? Pros and Cons?

Does it have enough RAM with only 1 stick to run window7 effectively?

Would i get 3G speeds on it with rogers sim card?

IF this is not the proper place for this discussion let me know?

Having had some hands on with the Booklet 3G from Nokia last year, I have to say, its a nice device, well built, and solid, however, performance wise, you are restricted to that 1GB or RAM due to it being soldered inplace, and not accessible. Having recently invested in a MBP myself, its quite evident that Nokia have modeled their Booklet on the Aluminum Mac series.

Well I was right again. The battery didn't last anything near 12 hours, guy there says around 8 hours with light/medium use.

Perhaps the biggest event of stupidity to come out of Nokia is to only give it 1GB of ram. You need 2 to run W7, let alone all other add ons, Ovi, F secure etc. To have it soldered in place beggars belief!

Gah, that'll teach me to look at the right side. Interesting read though Micky!

It's kind of like they didn't test it before putting it out for sale. Not that we have seen that before...

I still think that this particular Booklet 3G is more of a statement from Nokia than anything else. Kind of like saying to the competition, "Look, we can do these too".

Which makes it all the worse, supposed to be a highend product and suffers from simply not being powerful enough. Seriously, at that price why did they not stick a 2GB stick of RAM in there? It's not like they are expensive. *Shakes head*.

I feel your frustrations mate, I really do, as I have now been subject to the lack of RAM performance while working on the Booklet. Its really quite crippled because of it. Real shame, as its a stunning looking, and very well build machine.

i agree with you about the stupidity of it having 1gb soldered in, especially for the amount it costs, however i have to disagree about the choice of win7 with such low ram. win7 has been proven to run as good, if not better in circumstances, than xp (which would be the next logical os apart from linux variations).

couple that with z530 atom cpu and the supporting poulsbo chipset with the gma500, which can take some strain off the atom by supporting h264, mpeg4 and vc1. xp cannot make use of the gma500, whereas 7 can, giving it an advantage over xp when decoding video.
