MWC - make or break

Soon it's the MWC, which is make or break for me.

I am almost set on the Android nexus, but it's still possible I could be drawn back to Nokia if the hardware really suits.

I'm aware Micky is in the same boat, though looking at getting the next iphone rather than an Android phone.

I am wondering for how many others this is make or break time.

If nothing good is announced I will be moving phone maker. What about you?

I really do hope Nokia has something very very special up their sleeve, something that will be very unexpected, but welcomed by many from Nokia, I really do hope so. Im reading more and more articles about Nokia losing its way in the market place, and although its worrying, I do try and hope deep down, Nokia will come back and wow us all again.

Just a couple of the articles i mentioned, and these are a worthy read if you have the time, and you will see what I mean.

Well, in the last few months I've tried the N97, the N97-mini, the Omnia HD, the HD2, the N900 and dare I say it, most recently, in desperation, the iPhone (including jailbreaking it).

Whilst they all have their plus & minus points and I'd really hoped to find something to replace my 5800, none of the ones I've tried have that extra 'something' to make the upgrade from the 5800 seem worth the cost of around 4-500 GBP.

Unless Nokia can come up with another 'N95 revolution' device, it's looking as though I might have to be satisfied with 'ol faithful for a good while yet... I have to admit that after trying all the devices I've listed above, it's taught me to appreciate the 5800 much more than I did before!

i think nokia will win you guys back over soon

trying other things isnt so bad though and sometimes it can make you appreciate the other things you had more

for example using the samsung omnia hd it was much better then my n97 but there was moments whn i thought if only samsung had done that the nokia way and vice versa

to be honest with you bart the nexus1 looks lovely , the iphone looks pretty good , the omnia hd is great , hd2 is ok as spook said they all have good points and bad points but are all good phones with good features

nokia 12mp xenon will win you guys back over (as long as the build quality is good) just like the n900 is winning me back over , they havent had the best year , but hey surely it can only get better and what better time to turn things around then in febaury when cupid is out and he can shoot his love arrows at us all and nokia again :-) lol :-)

anyone going to the confrence , are nokia attending or holding their own one up the road still??

hope everyone is good :-)

i've got enough money to buy a one way ticket out of Nokia-ville. i'm in the departures lounge and i just need to choose my destination.

like sp00ky, i love my 5800 and i agree with luke that v40 does give it something else but i need something new, something fresh. maybe symbian will develop into a worthy OS but i think it's time to give android a chance.

Buzz, a 12mp xenon wouldn't win me back - it would have to take more than that.

If it had HD recoding, good speakers and all that other jazz - yes. I would go for it.

There is something I would consider, is if it was very low priced. If it was £300 odd for the 12mp with xenon, and it was as good as the 5800 in all the other respects, I'd probably bite the bullet.

My main problems -

It will probably be V5, which I am really tired of after playing with the customisation of android.

It might be symbian foundation. Which will be great in most respects, but I simply have to have decent navigation, which won't be on it for a while (lets face it, it won't be backwards compatible).

Things could actually get a lot worse before they get better!

However, the firmware updates are at least promising, including the way in which they were handled - lots of product codes in one. Shame they haven't done OTA yet though.

As for the MWC, I think Micky is going which I am very pleased about. i can rely on him to find anything good if it's there.

hmmmm a lot of ship jumping...but who can be upset?
what would catch the attention of those seeking greener pastures?
how about a maemo powered E series? (touch or non touch)
how about a working symbian^3 device?
or a 12mp carl zeiss with xenon and led a la N93 form factor?

a guy can wish cant he......

ship jumping?

that would imply that people are turning their backs on Nokia when really it's the other way around.

the good ship Nokia has sailed off course and we're not sure if the captain on the bridge can see the icebergs coming.

we've enjoyed most of the voyage but now it's time to set sail on a different adventure.

well you guys sound convinced that you just want to try something different , i think its a good idear if your unhappy with what you've got

theres alot of nice phones out at the minute and will be more to follow its the consumers market at the min with several good o/s selections out and with some top top handsets out that we would probably be dreaming about 3 years ago

can i ask though what you would want from nokia for you to switch back to nokia , i dont think you would get a symbian s60 12mp carl zeis for 300 pounds brand new , it would be more like 400-500 , iam not saying its right but it would be to of the range camera phone higher then the n86 that is still over 300 pounds to buy from nokia so it would cost more then 300 pounds with the sub 300 pounds being the older n86

is it the o/s your bored off rather then the features and hardware in the phone as symbina handsets are pretty good feature wise but we have all been using them for how long?? years maybe we are just a bit bored of it

maybe this is why i found maemo so exciting and a breath of fresh air and maybe this is why i would have found android the same

iam still thinking of grabbing a nexus1 to try out as awell when they hit voda iam all for change and new experience and these new o/s are nice to use and offer something fresh

i love my i8910 but it is a bit samey if you get me , top phone , just feels like nothing new even though it has the hd vid recording and other features and i can only put this down to the o/s which ive used for years etc

also apps have become a bit stale for the s60 range their are classics out there but where is the new ones and the new games etc its just all gone a bit stale and needs some freshing up not just nokia but symbian as well
