Congrats to Nokia- 39.1% market share.

Nokia has raised their market share 5.4% to 39.1% of the market. They've sold 101 million devices this past quarter- at an average of 123 USD. They lead the pack once again with Samsung in its new place at 2nd with 14.5% after selling 37.4 million units. Motorola slipped from 22.3 to 13.8, with the whole Razr craze fizzling out.

Way to go Nokia. A few dollars spent in North America and you'll finally have that 40%!

And congrats to Apple. They've secured 0.1% of the market share. Well done.

Edit- Also of note, despite Nokia doubling their profits this year and gaining all that market share- its presence in North America as dropped from 4.8 million handsets to 4.1 million sold in Q2 2007. A little focus over here?

Congratulations indeed! Surprising figures over there in America though? I guess that really does prove Apple marketing (and the likes) fools the average American Joe.

I wonder if Apple will tip 1% when they go worldwide? It will kind of be the stick in the sand way of measuring the amount of idiots there are in the world.

Well, I think the North America numbers are partly due to the fact that in Canada, most(or all?) service providers do not supply decent Nokia phones.

I agree- but I think a lot of that is the fault of Nokia for not pushing devices over here. I little consumer education over here would go a long way. The iPhone is proof of this. Americans have no idea what they are buying. We're so far behind over here- maybe it's because we don't know any better, maybe it's because we think we lead the world in everything and pay no attention to the rest of the world- but the fact is that we just don't know.

It is true though that there just aren't any service providers over here that offer anything other than a low end Nokia- and few even offer that much anymore.
