Exclamation Nokia Lumia - Time & Date Issues

    Hi,

Is anyone else experiencing an issue with the Lumia 800 regarding the date and time settings. What ever settings I choose for time and date (manual or automatic) everytime my phone shutsdown it resets the time and date to a random point...

For example, I has set my phone to the correct time zone and settings (I live in the UK so I changed it to 00:57 on the 30/3/2012 manually) last night but my phone had gone off battery. When I charged it again this morning the time and date had been changed to 02:17
on the 3rd March 1980 . Each time I shutdown my Lumia 800, the date and time randomize.

Also, the automatic setting doesnt combat this issue and everytime I activate automatic on date and time the flight mode symbol appears.

    Help?

That is perfectly normal on every handset, you just haven't noticed before, since usually it just disconnects and reconnects after a notice that all network connections will be stopped. That is the same as going into flight mode on the Lumia and then back to normal.

The other problem seems to require a visit to Nokia Care, there should be a power source of some sort on the phone's motherboard to maintain this data while phone is not powered on and there seems to be a problem with that.

Sorry got to totally disagree with the moderators post. I have so far had an HD7, mozart and now a lumia 800. All running on 7.5 at some point. Neither of the HTC handsets had a problem. just the lumia. This is most definitely a handset issue. You will also start to notice that even when the handset doesnt turn off it resets the time and date normally to 1980 in my case. last time to 17/2/1980. as you said having auto switched on doesnt solve the problem. I have no network issue, no outages and no previous windows handset have ever had this issue before.

What exactly do you totally disagree with ? You do not mention the flight mode symbol on/off issue and agree with me that the Lumia has a problem, for which I suggested repair at at a NCP.

    Same Issue

Did you solve this problem? I'm having the exact same issue. The phone changes the date and time randomly whether it is turned on or restarted. The date and time is completely random. This problem makes this phone worthless. My texts and phone calls are reordered based on whatever random time it was when the message came through too. Tried factory resets, different sims, no sim.....

    Anyone have any ideas?

Same recommendation - take it to a Nokia Care Point for repair/replacement.

    Losing Time

I've had my Lumia 800 for about 3 weeks and have already had to reset the time twice. The battery has been run low but I have not turned the phone off at all during this period. A few days ago I the time was 15 minutes behind and I was late for work.

How do I keep the phone from losing time???

I've noticed that my son's Lumia 800 has this problem.
I set the time, then switched the phone off- then on again.

As soon as the phone is powered up again, its got the wrong date and time.... useless.

Having only bought the phone less than two weeks ago from Carphone warehouse- I'll be returning the Lumia 800 in the morning.

I took the phone back to Carphone warehouse- where one key who initially spoke up, tried to say that this was a feature of this phone- I told him to stop talking mince.

The second guy then admitted that they'd had a product recall on the phone and that I'd be given a replacement there and then- which I was and now have a Nokia Lumia 800 that so far, keeps the time and date perfectly.

I only had my phone today and have the same issue. If you fully Power Off it sets the clock and date to weird times - 1980 once and 2084 on another. Real pain. Tried all the settings then changed from 24 hours clock to AM PM. Fixed it.

Looks like a software issue. Now come on, you did not buy a Windows phone and assume their would be no bugs?

No, wait. Gone again. Seems some phones have an Auto Time Update button near the 24 hour button. Mine doesn't so if you Power Off completely it resets. Daft.

Hi there, I bought my son a Lumia 800 from Carphone warehouse and it had the Time/ Date issue.

The man in Carphone told me that its an issue with some Lumia 800's and that they had been told to send them back to be replace.

He exchanged my sons phone on the spot- no hassle- and he's now got a fully working Lumia 800 that holds the correct date and time.

So, either return your phone to where you got it for a replacement, or send it back to Nokia Care for a replacement.

I have contacted Nokia - waiting for a reply as its the weekend - and Tesco Mobile who I bought it off. The Tesco M chap clearly knew the fault and said it was known on the model. There was no option to replace but I have 14 days to send it back. If by then there is no sign of a fix from Nokia I will send it back. It is a software issue not a handset. Does your sons have a Auto Time setting above the 24 Hr option in Time and Date under settings. I don't. That seems to be the issue and is waiting for a fix. As I am not an 'avid' smartphone user I think I can put up with it as the phone is exactly what I want. If you leave on standby rather than Power Off it holds the time.

Will update for others as and when I get any info back.

No, his phone doesn't have that setting- I checked when his phone was having the issue.
His new phone doesn't have the setting either.

Nokia came back saying Factory Reset - no use. Tesco - three replies. One woman phoned (missed it) then emailed to say Tesco know of no fault. By then I had Live Chatted as mentioned. Then called them. They are replacing it but I have to wait as it was online not instore. Really cheesed off, Lovely phone but lots of hassle.

Oh well, finally given up with Tesco Mobile. They are now saying I have to send the phone back, after waiting for them to send an 'envelope', then wait for them to get it, THEN wait TEN working days for it to be 'repaired'. It came Friday, I spotted the fault Friday, told them Friday but apparently it has to be repaired as I am on a contract. Easier to cancel and that is what I am doing.

Thank you for all the help on here. Appreciated and a word on Nokias ervice - excellent. They emailed me all through Saturday and Sunday and nights as well.
