The Vodaphone Internet Call Issue...

Hey guys

I've got an unlocked N95-2 from Vodaphone but it seems they have kindly disabled the "Internet Calls" option from the phone... I have set up a SIP profile but I've read that they removed the bit in bold from their phones...

Menu/Tools/Settings/Connection/Internet tel./options/New profile

Any ideas how I can get it back so that I can make VOIP calls on my WIFI?

Cheers guys, RJP1

Without debranding I believe it's not possible. The network providers (other than 3, who offer Skype) disable it because obviously means you can make cheap calls, something they don't want you to do!!

I hear you, so do you think debranding is worth while then? Will it bring back this feature that they have removed?

Cheers for the help, RJP1

Yes and Yes but it will void your warranty. That's the only downside. The upside is debranding and upgrading to the latest firmware gives you with an already unlocked N95 the functionality Nokia wanted you to have. Hack it as well and it'll have all the functionality you wanted it to have.

To debrand and upgrade your firmware :http://www.n95users.com/forum/genera...95-tips-2.html

To Hack your phone allowing you to install unsigned applications and customise it's functionality : http://www.n95users.com/forum/softwa...gned-apps.html

It is really worth doing, you will be amazed at what your phone can do.

Download an application called FRING

go to fring ? Make free mobile calls, IM with Skype, MSN Messenger, ICQ, Google Talk™, SIP & Twitter, AIM® & Yahoo!™

it allows you to use messenger/ sip / skype and other stuff

You don't have to fluff about with your phones OS or unbrand it, so it doesn't kill your warranty.

Yes, but a) I'm not with Vodaphone, I just it off someone else therefore I dont have a warrenty b) fring isn't as nice an inteface, I'd prefer the option to "call via internet" from my contacts...

And, I tried fring, didnt have a sipgate option so i dunno

O2 don't block it. Their branding wrapper is virtually non existant.

It's Broke?

Did you know that your Nokia comes with a 2 year warranty? Did you know that Carphone Warehouse are Nokia Repair Centres?
Damage from normal use: wobbly slider, broken keys, quiet earpiece etc... will be repaired for free, and usually the same day if you take it to a big store!

Your phone's warranty is with Nokia, not with Vodafone, and is valid for 25 months, established from the phone's IMEI - so you probably do have a warranty.
