O2 UK finally offer half decent Data Bolt Ons!

Have posted this in another thread, but it might get lost in there so posted it in separate thread.

If this is against forum rules, please feel free to delete this one (and apologies). Just think that it needs to be pretty prominant coz O2 Data previously was a JOKE!

Yeah, and better than the £10 a month I'm currently paying for 20Mb

They like to keep these things quiet do O2, wonder how many other users don't know about this new Bolt On, and will "happily" keep paying for the 20Mb.

Half decent? Surely "fifth decent" is more like it? ;)

Think I might add this, I get the 1mb with my contract but I'm kinda stuck with o2 as I can't get any other to work near my house (I got a Virgin phone for work).

I like the definition of "unlimited".

Quote:
* A fair use of 200MB per month applies to the O2 Web Bolt On. A fair use of 3GB per month applies to O2 Web Max.
So £7.50 for 200MB, slightly better than vodafone's 120MB for the same price. The big difference would be in what happens when you go over. voda start charging immediately. (when the billing system works )

Thought this was too good to be true.

o2 are now telling me that I'm not eligible because apparently its "not compatable" with my tariff as apparently the tariff I'm on was launched before 27 April.

Now... does anyone know when the 18 month tariffs o2 Anytime tariffs started? I was on 02 200 and when I upgraded on 18th May I was put on this Anytime o2 35 tariff - as the o2 200 was now defunct.

I can't remember exactly but I'm pretty sure that it was after 27 April, or have they butchered their Pay Monthly plans again since 27 April - can't see it somehow.

So if anyone can pinpoint when the "new" tariffs took over from the old o2 tariffs (o2 50,100,200 etc etc) I'd be grateful to know.

Result! "thanks"

I'm on hold now!

EDIT: I had to change Tariff, I was on 200m+500t and this was an Upgrade tariff, which was only available to retention staff. I changed Tariff to 200m+400t (no biggie, I rarely text) and then the chap could add on the Bolt-on. Didn't re-new, My contract (12month) still runs to June 08. Got it all confirmed in an email.

I questioned the guy about the Fair Use Policy and he said: The £7.50 bolt-on warns you if you consistently hit 250mb a month. Then they will call you to discuss options.

I think it's a pretty good deal. Just set an alarm for 27th of each month to reset my counters.

I have no clue of your tariffs but One real good thing is that 02 will support OVI >

O2 is supporting Nokia's move into multimedia on mobiles with a new partnership designed to accelerate the adoption of new internet services.

The collaboration, with O2's parent company Telefónica, includes areas such as menu customisation, technology and billing co-operation. Both O2 and Nokia services will exist together on devices.

The first Nokia devices with access to internet music and games services are expected to hit the market later this year.

The deal means that Nseries internet phones will feature Telefónica's mobile broadband network, as well as Nokia's music services, gaming and navigation facilities. O2 customers will be able to choose whether they want to buy services from Telefónica or download a song from the Nokia Music Store.

Nokia last month introduced Ovi, its new internet services brand name. Ovi, meaning 'door' in Finnish, enables consumers to easily access their existing social network, communities and content, as well as acting as a gateway to Nokia services including Nokia Music Store, N-Gage and Nokia Maps.

An O2 spokesman said: 'The Nokia partnership further enhances our converged-services strategy by enriching the customer's mobile internet experience. Partnerships like this are key and, as recent history will show, we excel at forging partnerships with leading-edge players like Nokia, Apple, Yahoo!, Flickr, Facebook and YouTube. [These] have been critical in maintaining our position as the UK's number one network.'

Anyhow 02 gives this

Free texts for O2 prepay customers
17:34PM Mon 15 October 2007

O2's online prepay customers will be granted with free texts as the network launches a new offer. From tomorrow, new customers who sign up to the network's online Text Anytime tariff will get free texts each month, with the amount of texts varying on monthly spend.

A customer spending £30 or more on top-up each month will get unlimited free texts, while customers who top-up £15 a month will get 500 free monthly texts and £10 a month equals 300 free texts.

Customers who are already on Text Anytime are eligible for the offer now by texting UNLIMITED to 21300. O2 will switch over any exisiting prepay customers on other tariffs to Text Anytime on request.

UK marketing director Sally Cowdry said: 'O2 has always been considered the home of text. We listened to what our customers asked us and now we are please to be able to give them unlimited texts, so that they can text their friends and family as often as they like with no limits.'
