How good IS the N79

In all honesty, I never really gave the phone a look in due to my heart being set on the N85.

Now just re-reading the specs, it's not a half bad phone at all!

Quote:
* Dimensions: 110 x 49 x 15 mm
* Weight: 97g
* Volume: 74 cc
* Resolution: 320 x 240 pixels (QVGA)
* Up to 16 million colours with light sensor
* Orientation sensor
* Ambient light detector
* Micro-USB connector with mass storage class support, High-Speed USB
* 3.5 mm AV connector
* BL-6F 1200 mAh Li-Ion battery
* microSD memory card slot, hot swappable, max. 8 GB
* Up to 50 MB internal dynamic memory
* WLAN 802.11b, 802.11g
* Integrated A-GPS
* Nokia Maps application
* 5 megapixel camera

That's not half a bad spec for a phone which will stay in the shadows you know!

Anyone any details of when this is out on UK contracts ?

That's it. Nokia have shot them self in the foot. N85 N96 N79 , Touch Screen, Express Music. Have they flooded the market, before they drop the big bomb in new year?

yeah I think its a very decent phone, acutally a powerhouse with few differences between n79 and n85

- screen size, qvga vs. oled
-form factor
-usb charging only possible on n85 so far
-camera same
-comes with 4gb card instead of 8gb like n85

it really is a reasonable choice for a sensible price, I just really wanted oled screen ;)

I call the N79 "The Invisible Nokia"

Even though its been released with other superb new devices, its kind of, as Ian says, in the shadows, under the radar as such.

Its the one handset to watch.

Just a shame it don't have a Xenon flash, however, having said that, its price is almost the same as a new N82. I have been so tempted to get the N79 instead of the N82, but the Xenon flash wins it for me with the N82. Talking of Xenon, I didn't realise the 6220 Classic had a Xenon flash too.

Do you mean the 6220 classic? I think the 6500 classic only has an LED flash and 2mp camera.

As far as I know, only Nokias with xenon are the N82 and 6220 classic.

Bloody Xenon's pissing me off lately, it's just too **** bright now, and it's a pain in the backside changing the exposure everytime before a pic.
