N82 keypad backlighting

Hi N82 owners,

I've noticed all of a sudden when I receive a txt or phone call, the screen lights up, which I expect, but the keypad doesn't. Just wondering if this is normal, as I thought the keypad would light up too when receiveing txts and phone calls.

Thanks,
Jen

Hi Mr G, I've tried covering the light sensor and trying it in total darkness, but the keypad still doesn't light up when receiving a txt or call.

The weird thing is, I switched off the phone hoping that might work, and it does for the first txt/call - the keypad lights up. But any subsequent txt/calls results in the keypad returning to a state of not lighting up.

I can't find anything in the settings that might help with this so I fear it may be a fault.

Thanks,
Jen

Just checked mine and it does the same thing, never really noticed that until now.

Thanks for checking Mr G, I wonder if this is common with the N82. Would be interesting to see if it is, as I'm very sure when I first got the phone it didn't do it.

Thanks,
Jen

I've just tried mine and as far as I can see in the bright lights of my office the keypad does not light up either.

Thanks for trying guys, I think it may be a fault Mr G as I've never known any other Nokia I've had to behave like this. You would think the keypad would light up when receiving a txt or phone call, especially in the dark as you need to access the unlock key sequence.

Thanks,
Jen

After over 10 years with Nokias I don't really need to see the keys to unlock the keypad.

Yes, but not everyone has the benefit of ten plus years experience and I'm sure Nokia would cater for such people.

Thanks,
Jen
