The N82 is kind of tired and old these days to me. Great phone in 2007, but it is a bit too slow and bulky these days. The N79 may not look as impressive side-by-side, but it is running the same CPU that is in my E71 and the N85 I returned which could run rings around the N82 in the speed department for everything, but 3D gaming (which, lets be honest, is rare to nil on the devices). Actually, the single CPU'd new Freescale chips are really impressive and I think outperform the dual-CPU chips of the past in just about every area you'll use daily (from just faster browsing the UI, to faster searching of large music libraries, and so on). This is in no way meant to say the N82 is a crap phone. Actually, it is anything but... it has just aged quite a bit in two years and it is not as impressive as it was circa 2007. I'd say N79 or wait for the amazing looking new 5630 XpressMusic this summer that will have a 600mhz Freescale processor (just about twice the speed of anything Nokia has to offer) for around $250 at launch! Hell, even the new super sexy E55 might tickle your fancy.

For those that say that the N82 is the best candy bar phone, it's mainly because it's the only N series phone with an xenon flash....If I had no phone and I were to choose with what candybar style phones nokia has to offer, I'd really debate over the N82 and the N86. . . What can i say, I go for phones that are t9 and take good pictures

if cost is an issue there is also the 6220 classic which , depending on where bought can cost as little as 130-150 pounds

i got one brand new from ebay for 135 pounds i think nokia still sell them for around 230-240 pounds and the n82 300 pounds

its a very good handset and offers everything the n82 does apart from wifi which also means no media streaming over wifi , but you can still stream with orb via gprs but it could be costly

the n82 is a very good phone but as someone else has said it is quite an ageing device now , its gotta be around 2 years old now

if you go for an n82 try and get the black one the dpad was improoved and it looks alot better :-) dosent show scratches as easy as well

Even though the N82 is almost two years old, its still by far the best candy bar Nokia handset available. Its just like an N95-1 in candy bar form, with added Xenon.

N86 is a dual-slider, not candybar, so you have nothing to debate over.

dont get me wrong guys i wasnt saying the n82 was a bad phone , just ageing a bit thats all ,

i think the silver one marks to easy as well ive seen a few cases of the silver paint peeling off from around the screen which makes the phone look horrible this can be seen on many silver versions on ebay that have been used

it happend on one of mine and all i did is take a screen protector off i was so so annoyed

its defo one of my favourite nokias made ...... ever

good ram , good camera , good gps , one of the better built nokias , 16gb mem cards , nice size , 3d gfx chip , auto rotate , stable firmware , pretty good battery life , nice screen allthough a bit small , 3.5mm headphone socket for good audio experience and connectivity , xenon flash

yep defo one of my favourites and i wish nokia would release a n82i or something silly like that with on board memory and micro sd slot , bigger screen , 8mp xenon flash and a projector or hd vid recording not both but just one of them last 2 to keep the size down

do you not think that nokia will release a new canybar s60 phone soon??

maybe not an n82 replacement but just another high end candybar design?? its been a while hasnt it and there alot of users that hate slider handsets my gfriend being one of them

id would defently recomend the n82 its nokias best candybar

I prefer the N82 over the N79...
build quality is top notch (I have a 2 years old son and believe, the N82 can take more punches than n79)

Apart for the FM transmiter and FP2, I dont see why change. Also we haven't see any new N-series in candy bar (only sliders, á la Sony ericsson).
Finally, the N82 can outperform most nokias including the N79 or many FP2.

regarding the n82, there's nothing wrong with aging. if it's got the best feature set, then it's still the best. until nokia releases another xenon-equipped camera phone, the n82 has the best feature set. then again, i'm not the type that needs the newest gadget every week, so this phone will be with me until it dies.
