I guess I should make some use of my accelerometer?

I have to confess, I switched this off after the first day with my N79 as it got annoying, but now I'm wondering what I'm missing out on?

Any tips on good uses for the accelerometer, and any games or apps I should try?

I leave it on, but turn off auto rotate. Especially with the N97, since if I want landscape all I have to do is kick open the keyboard. It's not a horribly sensitive auto-rotate, but it still gets on my nerves when it changes for some random reason and won't change back until I shake it like a mad-man in the up position. ;)

As for what are you missing out on if you turn it off completely? One of my favorite little features in my 5800 and N97 is the flip to silence calls and alarms. I use that all the time. Just today I was in a meeting and my phone started ringing. I flipped it over and it instantly silenced. The bad thing was, it stopped the meeting when everyone had to see how I had just done that. So I then had to pull the phone out and get the ohhhs and ahhs ;) OK, I didn't mind that much, but it is a cool feature. I'm pretty sure both the N85/N79 has that feature, right?

You may also want to check out the very interesting, if still sort of immature, Rock N Scroll application. It gives analog control of menus by using the accelerometer. It seems so pointless at first, but go check out some videos of it on youtube... it's very cool.

I think there must be a bug, as with turning control on, and auto rotate display set to off, the display still auto rotates. The only way to get it to turn off seems to be to have the turning control set to off too.

If i am not mistaken, flip to silence calls and alarms works on the light sensor, not because of the accelerometer.

:) I did exactly the same thing!
I remember trying to read emails in bed, and because I was lying on my side the
accelerometer (inclinometer) kept rotating the view against me.
I haven't used it since.

No you're mistaken :p
As for the apps, check out http://aikonlab.com (bysamir), they have some cool apps and games.
The flip to silence thing is available in all accelerometer-enabled phones, just download bySamir's ShutUp or the FlipSilent app from the Ovi Store.
NiiMe is an app that allows you to control you computer mouse and use your phone as an air mouse (I'm not sure if it works on FP2 though)
Anyways just google Accelerometer Apps and you'll get tons of apps.
Just remember that apps developed for FP1 use the API for the accelerometer while those developed for FP2 (e.g N79) use the FW framework and not the API so remember to download the correct versions :)
