CA-146C Charger Adaptor

I've killed my original. I was using it along with my original N95 car charger (DC-4) to keep my N97 topped up at work. As Micky states in his video it gets very hot, almost too hot to hold when charging. Yesterday it stopped working, I knew it was the adaptor or phone because the led on the DC-4 was still lit and my trusty multimeter confirmed it was OK. The phone charged fine through it's charger and USB lead at home.

Today I went to a Vodafone shop with my old one, fully expecting to have to return the phone and everything that went with it to get an exchange. They exchanged the adaptor for the store's demo N97 one, no questions asked. Apparently they don't like the voltage spike caused by starting a vehicles engine and they fry. Only plug them in once the engine is running to be safe. I was told this by the Vodafone bod and I think he could be right some vehicles do give a surge when starting. Full marks to Vodafone's Sheffield city centre store though.
