Hello new user...How is everyone? Hope you all had a good christmas.
Currently I am a blackberry user (I will even join in with the booing - it has become an extremerly boring phone). Anyway, I was talking to a friend who owns the Nokia N8. He has been a nokia fanboy for quite awhile and although I have not got one it was the first phone I ever owned. After reading about the N8 it was of interest and posted a question about them on Facebook. However, it was pointed out that Symbrian is no longer going to be the main OS for Nokia phones as Meego is on the horizon. So now the N8 is out of the question, as I don't want to be stuck in a contract for 24 months with a phone that is going to be using an OS that is no longer Nokia's main focus.
So a question, with everyone being big fans of Nokia, when do you think the phone will be announced and become available to buy? Does it sound too good to be true? Is it worth waiting it out even though I really want rid of BB? I have a feeling it will be released around the same time as the iPhone 5. As long as the Iphone 4 and N8 are making money, it will be a long wait.![]()
Mobile Technology moves fast. What's the latest and greatest today, won't be the latest and greatest in 6 months. Things like LTE are also coming up in the next few years.
Symbian3 runs fine. I have been using Palm and Windows. They are developing Symbian4 and Meego. They do use something called a QT software development kit, so any application can easily be ported to Symbian, Linux, Windows, and Mac.
It's up to you.

A very valid point about technology developing. However, I want something that isnt an iPhone 4 and something that is in a league of its own. Im sick of hearing friends and family going on about their feckin iPhones. Hopefully the N9 will blow all competition apart and then I can tempt people away from those dreaded phones. I did consider having an iPhone 4 the other day but I want something that says wow! He can think for himself (that last bit was a bit of a joke).
N9 is phone of choice for me because it has everything, N8 is suitable for me too but the Sybrian thing is off putting but I thanks for the information on the development kit Tabasco.

I read this
Mobile phone giant Nokia 's upcoming flagship model of N9 has upset a lot of media recently .
The latest rumor, smartphone based on the fiduciary Intel in the Atom processor.
Writes, inter alia, on the CPU . No sources or confirmations rumors are not
Previously MeeGo-cellphone is rumored to several other smartphones familiar with ARM ,
Qualcomm in QSD8250 "Snapdragon" processor.
Intel's CPU will not in itself be surprising,
since the company has operated as a pair of Nokia MeeGo platform design.
Also, the Finnish AAVA Mobile Oy
has long worked with Atom-based prototype MeeGo desk.
Intel is supposed to penetrate the mobile side for quite some time,
although so far on ARM processors have the performance and power consumption against the vastly superior.
Although Intel's Atom low-power x86 processor for the most performance and more efficient than the ARM processors,
however, it consumes far more electricity.
The rumor about the atom processor or maybe just the core in the N9 continues: Nokia N9 to come at the MWC with a 1.2 GHz CPU, 12 MP camera? - GSMArena.com news
Hmm these rumours are funny...
Some are true... some aren't. But the main thing is a lot of them are just rumours and a little far from the truth..
The main thing is distinguishing the truth from all the rumours, which some (in this case) are wishful thinking...

Thanks for the kind words Martin.
You are indeed of course correct, IF I could say I would but alas I am unable to say anything.
Back to the N9 lol been looking alot at MeeGo recently... Sounds very promising and I'm hoping to have a few apps out for it under the Mobile Users Group by the end of the year xD

Nokia N9 Gets Cancelled or Eldar Murtazin Gets Revenge? | GSM Dome - Mobile Phone NewsGuys. I was looking over the net & it seems that this device have been cancelled for reasons I really don't know yet. Why?, only Nokia knows...!!!
Well. It's always better to cancell a project for better reason.
Eldar said N9-00 got cancelled but doesn't mean that there isn't a N9-01 or N9-02 on the way to MWC next month.

This one's interesting.. They all do resemble each other.. Maybe the N8, C7 and E7 was based on this phone or vice versa.. I.e the ''C0'' is based on those..

Think it's time this post graduates from Rumour Mill, moved to N Series.
Why leave it open and then have two threads about it?!
Press the Thanks button...it's not going to hurt you....although I suppose you could pull a muscle in your finger while doing it so be careful!!!
I don't know why but for some reason i actually really like the look of the N9. It has a September 15th release date from Orange Switzerland so it's not long before it will be out. What i find most astonishing is that Meego has received a lot of praise from the community and reviewers, just a shame it won't ever get released here in the UK. I can imagine this going for big bucks on Ebay for buyers in markets where the phone won't be released.

It will be messy to merge the threads since all messages will also merge in chronological order thus losing the logic of the separate threads. I can close this one with the suggestion that everyone goes over to the The N9 Post thread.
If anyone is not happy about this arrangement send me a PM with a good reason to do it and I can re-open the thread.
