Default Would you consider the N82 even it doesn't have NA 3G?

Simple question for those in North America, now that its confirmed that the n82 won't have 3G, would you still get it anyways? I'm inclined to not jump the gun and get a N82 right away (even though its tempting), and wait it out to see if they make a North American variant like with the N95.

I'm stuck on T-Mobile for another 18 months, so 3G won't make a difference for a few months or so.

I'll probably get it for myself for my birthday in January.
I love the form factor. I love the placement of the speakers and headphone jack. I love the d-pad. I love the xenon most of all.

Yeah.......for me the decision really should be that easy also. I'm on rogers and don't even use EDGE, I guess in the back of my mind I'm always hopefull that I'll either run into a big pile of money somehow or that rogers will change their data plans...But knowing that my device isn't compatible with my network just bugs me. I'll see how long I can hold out for, but I'm getting a N82 for sure.

Default 3G or not 3G

This is VERY tempting but I learned already once that by being an early adopter who makes the device a success you get stick up your bum. With absolutely no signs of Nokia ever releasing US version of N95 I bought the Euro version. Then there were no upgrade plans or anything that would allow to pay some kind of upgrade fee and get the US device. At this point I think I will wait 2-3 months and see. Especially considering the fact that T-Mobile (hopefully) will be launching their 3G network on WCDMA 1700 I don't want to get screwed again and be even more pissed off if it will happen that "N" will choose to release T-Mobile variant.

I kind of doubt that they would go through a carrier. And if it wasn't a triband 850/1700/1900, I really can't see them picking a version that works on tmobile and not both at&t and rogers. Like you said, they didn't have plans for a NA n95, so maybe waiting for a little is the right decision.

3G for me is a plus, but not a deal breaker. AT&T has yet to roll it out in my area, however it seems to be spreading up this way. To answer your question; Yes, I would consider the N82 even though it does not have 3G.

This answer will definitely change when my area gets blanketed in the high speed service, but until then...

I'm Really in limbo now... I have a buyer for my Euro N95 when I return to Chicago in a few days so now it's almost as confusing as either keeping the functionality of N95-1 but with added Xenon or Sticking with N95-3 (which in my case means ditching both Euro and US 3G since I'm on T-Mobile). The price difference is not that big of a deal but where the heck do I buy N82 at this point??? I can wait for the arrival at Chicago store but I wish Nokia would be more open about their plans. And Honestly with the previous T-Mobile history of choosing bands I'd be inclined to say that a variant supporting UMTS 2100 (Europe) and US T-Mobile would be more probable. T-Mobile in the beginning was sticking with Tri band 1900/900/1800 before (meaning they were supporting Their US band and both Euro bands) and then when they moved over to GSM850 only then we started seeing either quad bands or both US and one Euro band so I think that in order to keep users happy when they roam in Europe on 3G I make a bet on 2100/1700 WCDMA bands. Let the dream begin...

The N82 really does seem better than the n95. the camera seems much quicker, and takes much better night shots. the chicago flagshp store should be one of the first places to get it if you decide you can live without 3G.

For some people, mobile broadband (3G) is a must for phones nowadays...and can be bettered by having HDSPA.
Personally i can't live without 3G and the innovative video calling.
Is the N82 announced that it won't have 3G then?, or is it just in north america?

Living in the UK this isn't an issue, but I use the web loads, on the bus, while waiting around, even walking from place to place, so 3g is a must.

If we didn't have 3g here, I'd buy an iPhone instead. The lack of 3g is the only thing that stopped me getting one in the first place.
