Nokia 5800 Questions: Security, txt, Games, mp3 & pics
I have a few questions about the 5800.
1) Does it have a Keypad lock that can be set to only be opened by a security code? Or an lock where you can lock access to text messages, pictures, call register, etc by a security code. 2) Can you type a text messages on your computer and then send through the phone to use up any free txts you might have. 3) Can you back up text messages through the phones software? 4) Will N-gage work? will games which require on screen bottons be any good to play as there is no multi touch? i.e does that mean you couldn’t jump and kick towards somebody in say street fighter at the same time? Can they change this multi-touch with firm ware upgrade or has Apple Iphone got the rights to it? 5) Transfering music – can you just copy albums onto the memory card and open them as normal I was reading in N95 thread about the phone not being able to read folders transferred over and music getting jumbled up, im just wondering if nokia fixed this. 6) Pictures – Ive also heard about all pictures being shown in the gallery in N95, have Nokia sorted this so that you can have some private / public folders as you decide? Will the N85 reduced in price, Im considering this or 5800 |

1. It can be set to request a pin on 'onlock' but you cant use a pin on specific apps (there are apps out to do this)
2. Yes, through pc suite 3. Yes, as above 4. N gage is not and may never be, there is debate on this. 5. Yes and you don't have to reload the library, its automatic. 6. No problems here Hope this helps... Last edited by demowayne; 01-22-2009 at 09:31 PM. |

1. You can set a phone lock code and have to type it in to unlock it just like any Nokia I assume.
4. Multi-touch is not possible on resistive touch-screens at this time I've read. Only possible on capacitive touchscreens (i.e. iPhone). Apple do not have patents on something like that simply because they cant. Its open. |

You're on a dedicated Nokia/Symbian forum - what do you expect to see in reply ?

Bit harsh 93tid, even if correct.
For what its worth...and bearing in mind I havent used the HD or 5800... Its vastly different devices. The iphone and HTC are almost double the price of the 5800. The 5800 is aimed squarely at music, and apperently the quality is very good, as said by many many reviewers. While we each have personal preferances, saying what you need from your mobile would help. For example, if it was music then its the 5800 all the way. If its for the use of a touchscreen, its probably the iphone. If its for apps, then its the HD. |

I like nokia and probably going to get a 5800 but I saw the HTC HD in the shop yesterday it looked no bigger than an iphone, I was previously put off by thinking it was a big massive phone. I have not used the WM software before though to Bartmanekul From a phone I want security features to lock my phone, be able to send txt messages through my phone whilst its connected to my pc to use my free txt from contract, good Music player - easy to organise, 3.5mm jack, good screen/picture to play movies maybe put some ebooks on their to read, radio, good camera, I want to be able to play good games on the phone. options to hide folders. and being easy to use aswell as a responsive screen for these touch screen devices Last edited by jg213; 01-23-2009 at 02:00 PM. |

Well you have most of the answers there already, my vote would be with the 5800 because its so cheap.
Between those devices it's really going to go down the personal preferance. As your in London Im sure you can find somewhere to try out a 5800 and iphone, the HTC might be a bit more tricky. |
