The BBC's 'review' of the 5800

BBC - Newsbeat - Technology - iPhone gets a touch screen rival

My favourite? 'Plastic pointer pen'.

I like the fact they claim the Nokia says they have caught up with the iphone.

AFAIK, they have said no such thing (or even about being behind the iphone!).

Rubbish reporting by the BBC.

Dispite the fact its outsold the iphone in a much shorter space of time, with so little advertising, the BBC has the main story in tech that Macs are 25 years old.

"Sophie thinks the screen on the 5800 could be bigger"

"It's a bit chunky but because it's got a big screen it looks quite good."

Well thanks for that Sophie and "Nik"

Shocking horrible report. BBC's usually been quite good with news but it has completely failed here.

Yeah... but... in their defense, this is the mass-market. This is the market the iPhone has conquered. People don't know, or care, what Symbian s60v5 is. That's for us tech nerds. When a common everyday consumer picks up the 5800, they aren't as impressed as when they use an iPhone. Can you blame them? It is hardly as refined, even if it is a lot more powerful. When someone sees the 5800XM and they aren't in the know, of course they're going to think it's Nokia's answer to the iPhone. With the lack of good marketing, Nokia has done little to discourage that image as well. They got one thing right, though... well a couple. A) it's a brilliant music player... beating out the iPhone easily for music quality, and B) that stylus is fiddly. Appease the Asian markets if you must, but... what year is it?

Ah, but in reality, the 5800 is the mass market, because its cheap, and has already shipped more than the iphone in its early stage. I do know what you mean though.

The plasti....sorry, stylus, is not just for the asian market. You can get a groovy little paint app, the stylus makes it fun and more usable, same with some other apps I dont doubt.

i think what was meant was that most people dont care that it is symbian s60v5(only us geeks lol). they see a phone and go ooh thats pretty i want that one whereas we will go oh yes this ones good because it does so and so its its got FP2 so its better than that one. that what you meant kinda thing?
