Sorry buzz, skipped your message somehow.

Yeah, its bog standard Maps 2 but with touch ability.

Any GPS app on this phone just rocks, I can't wait for Garmin to be released on it.

The speakers give out instructions so clear as well.

Logan, thats what I figured so I am not . I really don't like having to rely on Nokia maps, I just don't trust it. As S60 V5 matures, I suspect we will see more come out. Might even tempt a few others into making some, since for some reason a few people think GPS is only for touchscreens.

I'm sure i've seen a post elsewhere asking how to get maps3 OFF a 5800. I think the guy tried it and the app not only didn't work but got stuck.

Shame.

Time for another minor rant. My god Nokia Maps is RUBBISH.

I turned it on today while the GF was driving. And the spot where I was was jumping like hell. On/off the road, here there everywhere. Ok, lets try a route, so I set it to home, and saw something yet more dissapointing.

While this somehow seemed to stablise the location to the road, it seems the visual image stops while a voice prompt comes on. Then suddenly leaps to catch up.

Now its not processor speed, or memory, because my 6110N could cope with this easy, on Garmin at least. But I dont rememer Maps being that bad when i tried it on that phone either. And I dont remember it being that bad on the E66.

So it looks to me, like Nokia didn't optimise Maps for the 5800 at all. They simply added a touch interface.

Oh, and the jumpiness first described was simply the problem of Nokia maps. I shut down maps while travelling and loaded google maps, which had me spot on the road all the time.

Shut it down and started Nokia Maps again, the jumpiness was back.

So in my opinion, there isn't actually any proper satellite navigation options yet out for the 5800.

If I had paid for a subscription for Nokia Maps on it, I'd have asked for my money back and I'm not joking.

/rant.

Send a message via MSN to Logan
Told you it would end in tears lol

Seriously I kinda wish Nokia would stop churning out new handsets for a bit and pour all their resources into sorting software out like Maps as a prime example.

Don't get me started on how **** the Download application is...

Definately agree with you Logan. Maps seems to lag and not be improved and my god is the Download application horrible. Or how about a basic countdown timer that was available on all S40 devices and funnily enough removed from S60 devices.
