could people check their 5800s for me please

youll have to excuse my explanation of where the fault is

ive only seen mine a hungary model bought from the carphone warehouse on saturday , i havent noticed before , but just now i have noticed as i look at the handset on the right handside at the top of the phone where it curves and the edge lip is , well if you look just beyond that then youll see the front of the handset meets the back or middle of the handset

well my left side sits perfectly flush , but my right handside when looking at it there is a noticeable gap and if i push the top of the handset on the right handside i can see it close and open when i dont squeeze

iam taking it back tomorrow anyway as iam not having that lol

its not a massive gap but it looks like the front plate hasnt been fitted properley and the consequence is the case not sitting properley on the right handside

can other users check their handsets for me and see if this is like the n95 wobbly slider or wether iam just an unlucky guy lol

thanks everyone hope your having a good weekend

Checked mine, and seems fine. A pic would be handy in this instance.

I hadn't noticed it till reading this but yeah mine is the same. Easiest to notice it whilst display is lit up. You can then see the light disappear as you press on the corner.

Certainly a good Macro shot would be helpful.

ill see if i can explain it better bart mate , ive had a few beers so youll have to excuse me :-) basically where the power button is on the top of the handset you can see a line where the two parts meet (front fascia and back/middle fascia)

now my line is dead tight along the left handside of the phone but as the line moves along to the right near the power button and top right corner it seems to open up a bit slightly , at the worst part you can push it back together

its allmost like my front fascia is coming away after 1 day i swear it wasnt like that yday and i was admiring the smart look of the phone looking for creaks and squeaks and light leaks alot more yday as it was brand new ,

is that any better mate?? :-) if not ill upload the pics later :-) just let me know if you need them still

Exactly the same here Buzz... I hadn't noticed until I read this!

It's as though a catch isn't latching properly at the top RHS of the front casing, I can get my nail in the gap easily, all the other points where the top casing fits are flush.

This is not good!

It is like that on my phone too, Chicago Nokia Store/Spain model.

The left side is tight, but I can put my fingernail to separate the casing on the top right hand corner.

Nokia...

i know spook thats what i thought , one of the catches most be missing or something for the way it sits and it wont clip back on , ive tryed pushing it on etc but no joy it dosent even feel like there is a clip there , it just pushes back together then opens up again

i can see alot of dust getting in there and even worse maybe rain and condensation etc when going from warm to cold etc

when i examined the handset it looked great no squeaks etc and i thought it looks like nokia is taking a bit of pride in the build of these handsets but we are back to the loose sliders situtaion again by the look of it

maybe gaz or tom could confirm wether there is supposed to be a clip or something there for it to fit properley , or maybe they just have an idear what it could be as iam sure i read they have done their 5800 training recently

i was really beginning to enjoy the handset and i havent put it down today then noticed that , bit annoying to say the least

iam defently taking mine back tomorrow i have the day off work and iam sure cpw will be ok with it and its only 5 mins up the road so for me its not to bad but for other people this could be a right hassle having to do postage replacements etc

just annoys me a bit , its either bad design , or a good design built badly which isnt fair on the consumer not when we are talking 500 pounds of the n95-1 and 400 odd pounds for the n85 and then around 200 pounds for this 5800

If you check my previous post in 'Initial thoughts......'you will see that I had noticed this fault.

If I take it into a completely dark room I can just see a little bit of light through the two section's of the casing on the top right, but nothing to worry about.
It did'nt seem to be a serious fault but I can see that in time it could get worse. Nokia really have to tighten up on their quality control.
Not too bothered though because mine is going back as soon as I get the return label.
