Nokia Maps on Nokia 5800 postcode problem

Had my 5800 about a week now and very pleased with it too. Started to play with the Nokia maps application today and see it seems to be restricted to only searching for 4 digits in the postcode. This results in wildly innacurate search returns ! Is anyone with a 5800 able to do full postcode searches ? I see this problem existed about a year ago on other nokia devices but I've not discovered if anyone else is reporting the problem with a 5800.

Anyone any advice ?

I assume your linkisoc from AAS?

As its been answered over there, I'll just say this for forums users here.

The version of Nokia Maps on the 5800 appears to have the same bug some users (including me) had a year or so ago.

It cannot find 7 digit postcodes, online or offline. 4 digits is the maximum it will do. Which is highly annoying and renders the program even more usless for me as a navigation tool.

So anyone with a 5800, can you please see if its the same? You have to try it online.

yes Bart' it's me from AAS, also asked the question on the Nokia Discussions board, so far I've not had a reply from a 5800 user saying that their device searches for a full post code, other than your helpful replies I'm drawing a blank. I emailed Nokia about this and am waiting for a response. If I hear anything I'll post here, there and everywhere... I think this is quite a problem.

Well, I'm sure some people here will try it out. Once the ones with 5800s wake up ;)

From last time I remember it was just some people, and I don't think they ever found out what they had in common. AFAIK there was nothing in common.

Mine takes 5 digits both in offline and online search.

I double checked my maps - deffo only searches for the first 4 characters of the postcode.

My map build is V 2 WK 03 B02 are there any other builds (OPTIONS / ABOUT)

I've received a reply from Nokia, email another section within Nokia, I have, I'm waiting for a response....

I don't think its the version (I'm running same as you).

Interestingly, I am running V20 firmware, and 93tid is on V11.

Btw 93tid, it will take 7 digit ones, but are the results definatly 7 digit? I should have pointed this out earlier.

Update

just tried a postcode search on my friend Arrons' red, V11, 5800.

His also only searches for the first 4 characters of the postcode.

Interestingly when he opened his maps app at the bottom of the screen is the magnifying glass and search option, these are not present when opening my maps app. I have to use OPTIONS / SEARCH.

His maps app is V2 but wk 43 - mine is V2 wk 2 (or 3), ie Nokia have different maps apps installed into their various 5800 and I'm yet to see one capable of a full postcode search !

v20 Firmware with Maps v2.0.wk3.b02.

When searching for a 7 character postcode, it locates the first 5 characters and when searching for a 6 character postcode, it locates it based on 4 characters.

I have noticed though it so far for me has found the exact area I'm looking for using the post code even though it appears to be only looking at the first 4 or 5 characters.
Weird, never really noticed it until this thread.
