Considering a 5800 - Opinions please? (was: 5800)
Hi everone,
going out today and may come back with a 5800.just a couple of questions. What is the general consensus. Will it be as good as my N95? I really like the idea of the touch screen but dont know if i cane cope with only having three buttons. The Reviews are not really conclusive. Also does any one know if garmin will support this model with XT.Any replies gratefully recieved positive or negetive. thanks |

The touchscreen is a very personal thing... I really wanted one, I am very glad I have the 5800, but I do miss the physical keyboard on some occasions... Some people love it, some hate it. You'll only know after using it for a while...
I find my 5800 better than my n95.. |

I've come from an N95 myself, like quite a few others, and as stated above, the camera is probably the thing that is the biggest difference. In daytime/decent light, the pictures are fine, but anything less than that and there is so much noise its unreal. Found that messing with the manual settings and scene modes can help, but automatic isnt really that good for low light.
But its not all doom and gloom, IMO, I'm happy with everything else with the phone, with the exception of having to clean the screen all the time - cant stand any marks on it! Got used to the screen for texting now, and comfortable with qwerty and the alphanumeric pad. Half decent browser too. All wrapped up in a svelt package which doesnt cost too much. Bargain. |

i came from the n series family ( n95 , n96 , n82 ) and to be honest i much prefer the n95-1 or 6220c over the 5800 i found it a novelty that wore off after about 2 days and i just wanted my buttons back and got fed up touching the screen all the time and sometimes it not responding to the icon id touched or the touching the wrong link on the web browsewr by mistake as they are quite small , i have heard that the responsiveness has improoved with v20 though there alot more people out there that like them so youll probably be ok now but iam glad i managed to get another n96 as i much prefer it , i was going to wait for the n97 but just cant be doing with the toucgh side of things i like my handsets to be as complete as possible and without the 5mp camera i felt like i was downgrading my handset and also the touch screen hampered my speed on the handset so everything was taking alot longer then with say the n96 and with a mobile speed is important these are only my views and iam sure that youll find another 1000 people that love the handset dearly and are really happy with their purchase i sold mine though on ebay after a week max good luck with it i really hope you enjoy it and get a good one :-) |

Thanks for all the replies.Just been to local voda shop and had aplay with one for a while.Touch screen was responsive and ithink i could get uesed to it
It didn't feel as well made as the N95 or the N70 i first had, that put me off. I will wait another month or so to see if the software gets upgraded, also wait to see when XT becomes available.Camer is not really an issue for me. Again thanks for the replies |

Well there are not any moving parts on the 5800.
Just bought one for £200, think I'm going to use it for a couple of days and sell it just to have a go. |
