Drooling over a Samsung Omnia HD ?

Morning all

Firstly my Nokia 5800 is working pretty well at the moment, even Nokia Maps full postcode search is working. It's not a challenge anymore....

So, anyone (like me) drooling over the prospect of a new toy ? Anyone else going to be considering a Samsung Omnia HD purchase, I'm seriusly tempted... I'd read somewhere that a version of Route 66 may be bundled with the device....

I might just take the plunge, anyone else gonna plunge too ?

discuss :-)

Tempted to move this, but I guess you are aiming it at 5800 users?

Speaking for myself, I am worried about moving to a capacitive screen since I am unconductive.

Apart from that, I am worried about the quality of firmware and updates.

Every single smartphone has firmware issues, and only nokia are usually very good in this respect.

Route66 is bundled, but I don't think any maps are included with it, so you have to pay for use.

I'm going to leave it a few weeks after it comes out, see how early adopters take to it and what issues are reported. I'm concerned about the frequency of software updates as nokia are not bad in this respect. Also it seems quite a large beast, I'll have to see one in the flesh first, the 5800 is fairly petit so I don't fancy the idea of carrying around a brick.

oh and yes I was aiming this at 5800 users. It looks like a number of us transition to the latest must have device, as we (almost all) seem to have a number of devices on the go. I was wondering if this is extrapolated will some of us purchase a Omnia HD ?

Not much of a brick, more of a slab, since it's not very thick but very long.

I only have one device (should update my profile really), but I am very happy with it. Just waiting for Nokia to make a better, slicker version with perhaps a few more things in (FM transmitter - magnometer).

The HD aspects of the Omnia are very impressive, and while it would be nice to have such things, especially the recording, I'm not sure it's worth me paying it.

Since it's going to be at least £500+ imo.
