What did Phones4U do with my info?

When I got my phone (on O2 pay as you go) Phones4U asked for all my details (name, address, phone number, e-mail, the whole works) and when I asked what they needed the info they just told me it was to register the phone... Can anyone here tell me anything more specific?

Most likely, but for what is what I need to know... I'm sure there's some sort of data protection law that says I have the right to know why my info is being stored anyway.

yes you have the right and if you ask them they should tell you. though i suspect its o2 who asked for it for crime prevention/anti terror things or even to make sure nobody is box breaking

Are you not supposed to be able to buy PAYG without any identification?!
