Upgrading to a Nokia 5800 from N95 8gb..Questions.

So I had my n95 8gb for around a month and thought it was one of my favorite phones except that it wasn't touchscreen. I did't think it would be a problem, but coming from an iphone and having super fast internet browsing and then going to the n95 it was horrible! Anyways I just ordered the 5800 to try to help that out, and Im waiting, but have some questions while im waiting...

1.Is the 5800 web browsing experience up there with the iphones?
2. Its not a capitive touchscreen like the iphone, is texting even harder?
3.Will i be needing to use my stylus alot?
4.What all can you put on the homescreen?
5.Is the touchscreen similiar to touchscreens on like the Tmobile wing (Basically meaning cheap, and with no cover over the touchscreen). Is it basically protected like the n95 8gb?
6. The 5800 looks very cheap, does it feel that way?
7.Are most s60v3 apps on the 5800 also? Is there a myspace app?
8.My n95 8gb starts going slow after more then 5 apps are going, is this the same with the 5800?

I know most of these questions can be answered when i get it but i thought you guys can help me not be so worry lol. Also alot will probably get smart and say "use the search button" but i did on some, and I thought it would be easier if someone with one could help. Also if it doesn't do most of what I ask, then most likely im done with symbian unless someone hands me a n97 for cheap. Thanks to all.

Anyways I just ordered the 5800 to try to help that out, and Im waiting, but have some questions while im waiting...

2. Its not a capitive touchscreen like the iphone, is texting even harder?
3.Will i be needing to use my stylus alot?
I found that I needed the stylus for nearly everything because the menu, browser, third party apps etc were not touch friendly.
4.What all can you put on the homescreen?
You can put diary, contacts, I believe email, share online and a few other things on the homescreen
5.Is the touchscreen similiar to touchscreens on like the Tmobile wing (Basically meaning cheap, and with no cover over the touchscreen). Is it basically protected like the n95 8gb? The screen is good.
6. The 5800 looks very cheap, does it feel that way?
It does not feel cheap in any way
7.Are most s60v3 apps on the 5800 also? Is there a myspace app?
Most s60v3 apps are compatible those that are not have mostly had updates to make them compatible but unfortunately in my opinion they just amended the app, rather than creating it specifically for the 5800, hence why the menu's, options etc within the app are quite tiny so its back to the stylus again.
8.My n95 8gb starts going slow after more then 5 apps are going, is this the same with the 5800?
I have had no slow downs with the 5800.

On a last note, due to the problems above, I decided touch just was not for me and that I needed a physical keypad. I have since given touch another go via the nokia n97. I have had it 3 weeks now and the stylus is still in the box it arrived in. The touch on the n97 really is touch, touch friendly, right through to menu's, options, apps etc. I can not offer comparisons with the iphone as I do not have one but have tried them several times instores. The touch on them is great but the multi-function, adaptability and expandability is what I need and the iphone does not offer those to suit my needs.

To give my 2 pence, I upgraded from N95 8GB to 5800, liked it - felt the slower speed of touch was worth it for improved look of the phone.

However...after using 5800 for about 3 or 4 months I lost it at the weekend. Since Sunday I've been back using an N95 (01.01 RM-159) and it is bliss having a proper keypad again, texting and navigating the menu is lightning fast. Really pondering whether to get another 5800 or not now.

Edit: to answer your actual questions:
1. Yes
2. Texting is harder/slower than an N95
3. Not really, unless you copy/paste text a lot which I found impossible with my finger
4. 4 contacts or shortcuts, I'd recommend HandyShell - without it I would've got rid of my 5800
5. Same as N95 8Gb if I remember, haven't managed to scratch it and I don't treat phones with kid gloves
6. No, has quite a nice feel. No moving parts so no wobbly slider like all previous N phones I've had
7. Most apps work, haven't found 1 I had on N95 that I've not got on 5800
8. Yes, same really - I usually had email/twitter/web/msn all open on 5800, it still worked ok

here's my reply..

1.Is the 5800 web browsing experience up there with the iphones?
yup.

2. Its not a capitive touchscreen like the iphone, is texting even harder?
im not having any problems with texting.. bt then i use the alphanumerical keypad interface

3.Will i be needing to use my stylus alot?
i never had to use mty stylus.. so far.. as i said, i use the alphanumerical keypad interface

4.What all can you put on the homescreen?
4 shortcuts.. and frankly, to me, its more than enuf. having more will b lovely, but something i can live without

5.Is the touchscreen similiar to touchscreens on like the Tmobile wing (Basically meaning cheap, and with no cover over the touchscreen). Is it basically protected like the n95 8gb?
not sure.. i have the screen protector on.. dint want to take any chances

6. The 5800 looks very cheap, does it feel that way?
i say no.. i like it very much

7.Are most s60v3 apps on the 5800 also? Is there a myspace app?
yes, there is facebook app, there is myspace app..

8.My n95 8gb starts going slow after more then 5 apps are going, is this the same with the 5800?
depends on the 5 apps you have.. and the available memory on the phone. if it slows ur n95 8gb down, most likely the same apps running same time will slow the 5800 down as well.

Thanks to all! I actually got too inpatient and arranged a pickup since it was only an hour away lol. I read all your opinions before I picked it up though.I thought it was going to be a huge let down but it really isn't as bad! Ive been playing with it for a hour and It blows the n95 out, other then the camera. Touchscreen really made symbian not worthless.

Pros: Almost everything!
Music,Build,Look,Camera,Touchscreen,Phone calls,Speaker,Web browsing,SCREEN!
Cons: Homescreen is horrible, Wish it was skinnier, Apps.

Can anyone point me to the myspace app by the way?

Pretty awesome phone though! Thanks again to all who helped ease my pain through the wait lol.
