It can be turned off and it can be free but can't be used to it's potential without a navigation licence that does cost.

It's fast enough, i surely wouldn't say it's slow.

It very much depends which Sony Ericsson you have ... if it's a Cybershot, they've got some really nice processing of the images. The response time & image quality on the wife's SE K800i (3.2MP) is better than the 5800, though it does take longer to lock focus. There's not much in it from that point of view.

The SE has a slightly worse flash than the 5800, but the SE K750 she had before that had a fantastic flash but just 2Mp - so you can see it very much depends on what model you have at the moment.

If your main priority is photos via your phone and its a nokia you want then the N86 or n82 are the way to go.

The 5800 is a superb phone but lacks in the photography department.

Ive just got rid of a sony c905 only the n82 and n96 will give that a run for its money photo wise altho the c905 was better for photography purposes than my n82 because it the c905 is more a camera with a phone intergrated than the other way around all the controls on it the c905 are set up for photography.

The n82 which i had did give the c905 a run for its money picture wise but was not as easy to use as a camera.

If you dont need the touch creen of the 5800 or the music and photography via a phone is your aim i would definately look at an n82 they can be had now for under 200 quid and are a superb phone with a still top ranking camera infact only the new n86 in the nokia stable out does it as a camera nokia wise.

Like i said n82 lot of phone for the money lot of camera 2 the new n86 is meant to be better but is double the price and again is not a touch screen.

Google photows/pictures taken with a nokia 5800 and see what you think there are some superb photos taken with that devise especially out doors but its hard to get the best out of it indoors.

It the 5800 only has a 3.2 camera so you cannot compare it to the likes of the n82 sony c905 etc but you have to decide how much you want to pay and how much photography is going to be at the front of that.

you are joking mate the k800i has xenon flash how can you say that is worse then the duel led flash on the 5800

the 5800 camera is good for outdoors only , it can produce great pictures in daylight (when you can see the screen)

nightime pictures i wouldnt even bother with the flash is terrible

if you take the battery cover off when taking pictures youll get even better pictures as the plastic lens cover is cheap on the 5800 and dosent seem to let alot of light through , take the battery cover off and it lets more light through and gets better pictures , dont scratch that lens though

the k800i flash worked great at nightime as it was xenon i didnt even bother tsaking pictures in night with the 5800 it was terrible
