Ok im not a 5800 owner however i got sent this link in a email

after there bodge job n97 i think they could do with making some customers smile again

It would be nice to see a firmware that actually DOES something for once. The only firmware that i remember improving a fone beyond all recognition was when i debranded my orange V13 n95 to V30 etc The camera on the 5800 is shocking, i wonder if a firmware update would change this? In low light the image is terribly fuzzy. In the same light, my N82 produces a perfect pic!

I was just thinking today about my old fone, the K800i. Never been updated, everything works perfectly, from camera to displaying pictures. When i were a lad, you bought a fone and it simply worked. Now we seem to live in a world where new fones are released every 3 weeks and phone manufacturers dont put much effort into getting them to work properly, they just let the public become beta testers and release new firmware.

In 50 years time when my nokias have crashed, screen ribbons have come loose, speakers failed, wont boot past hands logo. Il pop my sim in my K800i and enjoy the simple things in life once more lol

I know it's (v.40) being tested and i've been told it will have KS in some parts, not all like the N97, and a modified home screen but theres alot of talk round other sites that the screenshot in the link posted is fake thats why i've not posted it myself, whuich i could have done at the beginning of the week.

It's showing a GSM logo & a 3G logo and the 'Done' is pressed (shaded) with no finger pressing the screen.

These pics have been uploaded about 4 times over the last week at various other sites and the general view is that these are fake.

i wonder if they will make the homescreen 'rotate' when you rotate the phone, like the menu or anywhere else in the phone..

i was looking at the 5800 promotion video, and i was shocked to see the homescreen rotate when they rotate the phone.. mine dioesnt from day 1..

which makes me wanna ask u guys.. does your homescreen rotate?

Nope, homescreen is always in portrait mode.

'We'll at least get the homescreen of 5530 XM, cause every XM touch or non touch will get it ! (though both versions differ slightly).

I don't have any idea about a fixed date yet, just know it's still being tested, nor can I say the QT pages relate directly to the firmware bugs or the QT platform bugs.

When I'm sure of a fixed date, I'll post it, untill then I can't give you out any other information (regarding the launch date). Simply cause I'm a perfectionist and I like to be right and correct and not wrong.'

v40 certainly sounds interesting and will imho will give Nokia a slightly better image than it's current tarnished image after the failures of N97.

you can pick them on ebay dirt cheap now 100-140 depending on condition

top phone is the 5800

brings so much to the table for the price

Agreed, it looks a fake, and not a very good one at that.
