Angry phone died in 5 days. 4 and counting attempts by nokia to repair SAME ISSUE

phone died in 5 days. 4 and counting attempts by nokia to repair SAME ISSUE

if you find anything wrong. RETURN for REFUND immed if possible.
Purhcased at NYC flagship store. I had the phone working for 1st 5 days. When the battery started to discharge, i tried charging. It didnt charge at all. Store gave me new battery saying battery was at fault. Again same issue. It wudnt even turn on with the charger connected - so clearly its not just battery problem. By the time this battery discharged , the 14 day return period was over - pretty sure they knew it.
Then started the saga of sending to nokia service center - PALCO. Already sent 4 times. each time had to ship back same evening or next day. Same problem for "repaired" "replaced" and "repaired again" phone.
First they claim its "repaired", then 2nd time they claim "cannot be repaired...so replaced"...why did they send it then?
but the so called replaced also had same issue - how can this be co-incidence?
again sent...they claim repaired....but same issue.
When i call....they dont agree to send me a courtesy phone since its clearly their mistake and 4 attempts are enough to figure out im being cheated.
They wont give me refund or replacement.
They wont even agree to send me a email saying they take responsibility to resolve the issue.
5 is not my lucky number....i have no hope it will get resolved.
looks like they will continue playing ping-pong till end of 12 months.

the 5800 is a reliable phone it sounds like you have been unlucky which is very annoying

have you tryed sending a letter back with the phone explaining the problems so when the techinician gets it he has something to go on to fix the problems , it may help

i know its annoying mate ive been there myself but keep calm and try not to let it stress you out

the agreement is with the person that sold you the phone so maybe push them to offer a replacement , tell them youd even take a refurb as long as it worked etc

Angry

yes...ive send detailed letters on what happens in the few hours the phone lives between receiving fron care center and shipping it right back.
i even suggested they check phone, battery AND charger...which accompany the phone each time.

this is what ive told them in writing each of the 3 times...and i think its more than enough for a "techie" "authorized" to figure out whats wrong.
------------------
Problem (since date of purchase)
(1) Phone dead after battery discharges
(2) Phone does not turn on even when connected to charger
(3) Battery does not charge again (even after full night)

Sequence of events
(1) Battery indicator shows 1 or 2 bars
(2) Connected phone to charger
(3) Battery indicator scrolls BUT phone does not charge
(4) After 2-3 hours phone turns OFF and does not turn on again, even when still connected to charger
............
.............
Phone was always shipped with battery and charger.
But no communication about whether phone, charger, battery or ALL 3 are defective – since day 1

------------------------------

the letters they send back has 1 line about the problem and repair...and dat too in code language. if they send code numbers how the hell should i know what they repaired...which they obviously didnt!

i think its a scam...and im making all attempts to warn people. bcause you save up months to buy a phone and you feel since its a simple device a repair is all it needs...but apparently best way is to return in within the 14 days they give.
JUST GIVE IT BACK OR SUFFER

we had some great nokia technicians on here that were great and really cared about nokia devices mate so not all techs are like this

as ive said the place where you got the phone from is the person you should deal with 1st , in the uk if a faulty item is returned for repair and it isnt fixed then we have more rights

maybe look into your consumer rights mate

alot of people here are very very happy with the 5800 and it has built up a reputation as a stable workhorse over its lifespan , obvously not every 5800 out of the factory will be 100%

all you can do is keep trying mate iam not saying its fair etc but id go ack to the shop 1st and not nokia to see what they say
