How to disable auto USB connection type!?

Is it just me, but when I plug my phone in via the USB cable, it automatically selects the last connection. For example, if I connected it up in mass storage mode, then disconnected it. When I reconnect the cable, it'll go straight into mass storage mode again. I still get prompted which mode I want, but it'll automatically go into mass storage without me selecting anything. I can select PC Suite from here and it'll change, but I'd rather it didn't do stuff automatically and leave it down to me to choose!

Anyone else with the same issue?

It is a bit annoying, I'll say that. 'specially when Mass Storage box pops up.

YES, it can be changed - go into tools/settings/connection and select USB, you can select a defult, and also set it to ask every time. Applies to all N95's

    HTH

    Mike

DOH - Ignore me, missed the N85 bit - although does it still have the same option as the N95??

That's just it. I might only want to charge my phone via the USB cable, and not have it go straight into Mass Storage or PC Suite connection etc.

It's different for the N85's mate. It auto opens the last used connection, as well as prompting you too.

After every question asked, it'll then be " what N Series do you have "

You're missing the point. It's not the prompt which is the problem, it's the fact the N85 jumps inot the last used connection. AS WELL as prompting you to choose what connection you want.

Very annoying if you've used Mass Storage, and you re connect for PC Suite, and next thing you know the box pops up on Wind0ws with options for mass storage.

Which model of N85 do you have, what product code. It's interesting yours is different, I'd like to maybe find out why. Maybe it's region specific, maybe it's not.

Do you know what version yours is mate ?

Well going off this thread It says yours is the Emerging Asia version.

Mine being a Polish version, that must have something to do with it.

So now we know it's version dependant, it's interesting. I wonder what other little gems they've altered for N85 versions.

    Thanks for that.

Yeah no prob. It is a bit strange that it would be different, why in such a single handed aspect would they change anything...we shall see what happens next...and perhaps other codes will vary as well ....you are right it is interesting...best ,rad.

I wouldn't have thought something so minor would, it's only normally things like FM Trans, Wifi, which countries may disable.

Out of interest, are you running Windows XP ?

Yes Xp and XP professional depending wether I am at work or at home, but it does not seem to make a difference it still gives me an option to chose rather than defaults to previous connection

So the Polish models are confirmed to do this, any more ?

Nokia will only include it in a firmware update if it's made known to them.
