bug possibly....still the whole power saving feature on the device i reckon is awesome, i have used it on few ocassions and i must say i am truly impressed. even if it does not have all the abilties that IJM is listing, it still has some power saving force to reckon with

Oh yeah dont get me wrong i agree its a great feature and i love the way it automatically switches to power saving mode when youre geting low on battery :-) it defenty helps alot,

i just meant it sounded like it was a bug the way the battery meter dropped when self activated on the n85 via the power button

wish theyd stuck the n85 battery in the n96 bet its so nice having that juice and power saving better screen :-) lets hope its standard in the next gen n series and not just a few models that get oled and bigger battery :-)

i think youve just stumbled across another bug , ie you press the power saving profile and your phone jubs out and gives a different battery reading to what is present (probably the battery reading that the phone should have when power saving mode comes on with an actual low battery)

on my n96 iam able to do what you wanted to do in the 1st place , put it on power saving mode to consume less battery in the day if i have a long day ahead , and doing this dosent change my battery level at all , all i get is the little symbol in the battery meter to show that it is on power saving mode :-) its weird that your battery level jumps straight down id say when you are selecting this option manually it is making the phone give a false reading of the battery as i mentioned earlier its probably showing the same battery level that you would have if you just left your phone do its thing and the power saving come on by its self

itd be nice to think that phones would have a reserve tank of juice for emergencys but i dont think that is the case in this situation , what with it being a new nokia device on its first firmware with new technolagy like the oled screen etc and we all know what that means with nokia dont we -- buggy 1st firmware :-) perhaps this is what it is down to mate , buggy firmware , as it seems weird that the n96 and n85 have it but do different things when selected ,

hope your having a good day everyone :-)
I don't think so, maybe it's a design within the N85 which is different to the N96 because of the battery capacity.

I at first thought it was a false reading, but more it was tested the more consistent it was.

I've got to say i'm with Buxxz777. When I switch to power saving mode my battery doesn't drop down, it stays at the same level, just giving me a longer period of use.

If, as you say, the battery saving mode gave you another source of power, wouldn't it just show a new full bar and gradually work this one down ? And maybe signal it as a reserve battery source via another colour ? I just don't see why it would drop down ?

Would be great if it was true though but am sceptical to say the least !

I'm a bit confused. Going by the first post, when you put it in powersave mode (from the button menu), it automatically reserves a portion of the battery?

Unless I have this wrong, when I put it into powersaving mode it's going to automatically tell me I have less battery than I actually do, because it's effectivly portioned off part the battery for a reserve tank?

If thats the case, that's kind of counter productive.

just got my n85 yesterday and my battery level stays the same when i activate power saving mode, looks like a bug to me. Mines a UK version made in Finland if that makes any difference.

Can you all do me a favour, can you put your phones into power saving mode. And try some mid-heavy use on it, Wifi, GPS etc for an hour to two to run the power down. When it's running down can you switch it back to Normal mode and tell me what happens with your battery indicator level ?

I hope it wasn't just a glitch and it's a feature but it's growing more and more unlikely judging by the general response on here ?
