Thumbs down SIM Registration Failed :-(

Just bought a Nokia N85 today and had it on charge for about 8 hours. When I turn it on, it says "SIM card registration failed"

The woman in the shop said it would only take 6 hours and then be ready to use

Any idea what I've done wrong/what to do to rectify this??

TIA

Smile

Cheers Maltloaf

She said that the account and SIM would be activated in 2 hours and to charge the 'phone for 6 hours and then it would be ready to use!

I can't take it back tomorrow as it's Sunday and they aren't open. I really need my 'phone so I suppose I will just have to take the SIM out and put it in an older 'phone and hope that it works!

Pity though, I was looking forward to playing with it

it's probably the sim that's not working and not the phone, so putting it in another phone shouldn't work either. Unless of course you are unlucky enough to have a broken phone.

Who aren't open on a Sunday ? we cant walk past a mobile phone shop here (Hereford) on a Sunday without being hassled by sales staff on a commission lol.

Ggggrrrr

We live out in the sticks so don't walk past mobile 'phone shops regularly but I've just done a "Google" on the branch we went into today and they're open 12-4pm tomorrow Might get chance to pop in. Will see what the 'phone's doing in the morning and let you know thanks

Mine did this yesterday too!!

I've had the phone for 5 months and never had any bother, and yesterday I got the "SIM card registration failed" message and it hasn't gone away!

SIM works perfectly in other phones, so came on here to post a question and see it's already at the top of the list!

Wonder what's happened...surely not a coinscidence??

Perhaps it's your 'phone and not the SIM?

Well, everything was fine this morning. Bit of a nightmare retrieving the contacts through PC Suite from my old E65 but I got there in the end.

Just having one problem now though, can't send text messages !!

sim reg failed usually means the phone is barred.. phones dont need activating... Sims do!

You have a duff phone and need a replacement if you have payed the bill if its on contract

if you have only just got the phone then you have a duff phone and need a replacement!

Text messaging sorted after visiting the Orange website - I'd put 44 before the Message Service number which apparently I shouldn't have done!

Well that's me finally sorted - thanks guys
