Question Nokia Download - Certificate Error?

I am not able to use Nokia Download with my N-85. When I start Nokia Download I get the following error message: "Incompatible device or Mobile D! detected." The Download says "A new version of the mobile client is available." Then it downloads the file and transfers it to the N-85. Then phone prompts me to "Install D! Beta." When I click "Yes," the phone displays this error message: "Certificate Error. Contact the application supplier." (I assume the supplier in this case is Nokia.) Before I call Nokia tech support and sit on hold for who knows how long, is there any solution to this I can do on my own?

Uhhmm... There IS a solution... But its not pretty.... You could hack your phone using Hello0X, and that will allow you to install anything, regardless of signing. OR, you get a dev. certificate and key, and sign the file you are trying to install yourself. But seeing as its Beta, both options are risky...

I went ahead and called Nokia. After going through the voice menus (twice), explaining the problem to level one techies (also twice) and getting disconnected while being transferred, I did get a solution:

I uninstalled from my computer all the software from the Nokia CD that came with phone. I downloaded current versions of PC Suite, Ovi Suite and Nokia Software Updater from the Nokia USA website. Hooked the phone up to the computer and now everything works.

I post this in case somebody has a similar problem later and does a search on this forum. Just goes to show: When in doubt, reinstall.
