Corrupted memory card - data restoration failed?

My memory card got corrupted. The problem was in "private" folder, which showed total size of 2TB (on 8GB memory card).

So I've copied all folders except "private" folder to a save location on my PC, reformatted the memory card and copied back all data back on memory card.

I expected that phone will generate new "private" folder, which I believe contains messages, and once I return all my folders back to memory card, that everything will work fine as before.

However, all shortcuts to all custom installed applications are gone. Maps are here and all data, mp3 are still here, but all custom installed apps are gone. Well, at least their shortcuts in menu, they must be still on memory card.

Is this normal? Did the "private" folder contained some data that are vital for menu structure?
Is the only way to fix this to install all the applications all over?

Yes 'private' usually contains files used by apps and the music player. It is generated by the phone when you use those apps. If the memory card or mass memory 'private' has become corrupted you are lucky to manage to save what you have. A complete reinstall of all apps and copying back your saved media files is the only safe way to ensure it won't happen again. You might get told different but bitter experience has taught me otherwise.
This forum taught me all I know - use search and let it teach you too !

Thank you. But now I have to find all the programs I had installed on my Nokia device.
I've managed to found some of their names in E:\Resource\Apps

However, I cant seem to find the name of the theme I used or java apps I had installed? All java apps have gibberish name e.g. "a75885b7575sd75"

How can I pull up the names of all apps (both symbian and java) installed on my phone?

EDIT: I've managed to find most of the apps by searching them on Google. Thank you in advance.

If youre lucky, you can try going to the application manager then installation files. I think... maybe I read it somewhere... That when you install an app, the installer is also copied to somewhere in the private folder, as well as the actual instalation files. Is that true? Anyone have any more information on the 'instalation files' option in the Application Manager? It doesnt just pick up on every possible installation file on the memory card, otherwise my list wouldnt be empty, and it is.
