    Call blacklist/barring apps

    Has anyone ever used any of the call blacklisting apps on the N8? There are loads of them available and the only one that seems to get good reviews is Adavanced Call Manager by Melon Mobile. My mobile number has got out to management at work and I want to block them from calling me. I have a work mobile which I ignore out of hours, but now they start calling my personal one! Which I ignore as well...

    Before I splash out £4 on the above app I thought I'd ask for some feedback from the experts here.

    Ta.

    Thanks Buxz777. That has got bad feedback too, I might give the trial a go though. I've got the demo version of Advanced Call Manager to see how that fairs. You can only block one number but it at least gives you a chance to see how it works.

    I'm probably missing the point here so perhaps someone can edjumucate me? I have a similar problem to 'Nessmuk' but I deal with it like this;
    [1] Those [from work] who call me - I have their numbers/identity in my 'Contacts' so when they call, I get to see 'Caller Identity.
    [2] I then decide to either answer or not. I either press the 'Decline' option or just do not answer.
    [3] I have disabled 'Voicemail' in my service providers account.
    [4] All family and friends have photos attached to their 'Contact Profile' so when me phone rings I see sraight away who it is and 'no photo' means I look more closely at who is calling by name. No 'contacts' entry [name] then I do not answer anyway.

    One of my works team habitually never answers a voice call from anyone. He sees who called him and then calls them back if he wants to talk.

    I suppose it would be handy to nominate a number so that when that number calls the phone gives a 'no connection' signal or 'number unobtainable' tone to the caller - a bit like an e-mail spam filter - but I do not seem to be bothered too much by unwanted calls.

    Cheers

    yeah but some of the feedback is from people using it wrong etc , give the trial ago you can always remove it , iam sure thats the one i used from the n95 all the way up to the n8 , i might be wrong though , if it is the one it done the job good

    also advanced call manager is pretty decent , pretty costly , but also does the job , i didnt quite like it as much as the one i ended up using for some reason though

    everyones different dude ive had people ringing me non stop i dont want to speak to for personal reasons and theyve rung and rung and bombarded me with sms , a app like this simply filters select numbers so they dont bother you , it can actually be a god send

    its actually built into some android phones now too

    Like you I just ignore the calls now, but I'd rather not even see them in an ideal world. I don't think that is easily doable though. It looks like Advanced call manager just hangs up for you, and you even hear the phone start to ring first, at least on the trial version I have. Not good.

    I guess it's back to just ignoring them!
