new to this forum, and i have the exact same problem as above. iv had the phone since june last year. until a few weeks ago i would get 3 days from a full baterry and then it dropped to less than a day. im not a heavy user on my phone, mainly texting, few pictures and some music files. i purchased a new battery, not a genuine nokia one but one that has the same spec and the problem persists. would a software update solve this?

ive been in contact with orange and battery is only covered for 6 months.

No it wouldn't and just because your non-genuine battery says it has the same spec as the original battery that doesn't mean it does.

I'd try a Genuine battery and then see what happens before trying anything else.

The fact is it did. maybe the picture size differing from what the n82 software is expecting does it. But after I deleted the pic files, it was ok again. probably the pics affected the software which inturn affected the performance of the battery because some applications wouldn't close.

Thanks to Dead1nside... I have recently upgraded my N82 to v31 and suddenly the battery life was ruined. I checked all the apps I was running but eventually bought a genuine Nokia replacement battery. This had no effect, so I got the Nokia Energy Profiler and found this thread. Just as Dead1nside experienced, I had an attempted WLAN connection every 10 seconds to an old WLAN which was killing my battery. After I turned that off, I used the energy profiler to see what was going on.

Power usage with no apps running but the screen active (on lowest level) was about 0.7W. When it went into screen off mode that went down to 0.35W...
After I did a hard reset, the first value dropped to 0.35W and the second value to 0.08W. It remained at this level after I copied my content back.
I turned screen rotation on to see what that was like and was quite surprised - Normal usage went up to about 0.47W, and whenever I rotated the phone, it spiked to about 1W!!

Anyway, hopefully this will help more people - my phone was using 4 times the power it should have been using after the firmware upgrade, so a hard reset is absolutely necessary.

It lasts about 9 hours... in mostly GSM mode. I use the packet-data connection occasionally and switch to dual mode when doing this and I've only made one 30min phone call today and it's telling me it's about to die.... that's terrible.

Does anyone else experience such poor battery life, or else what kind of times do you guys get?

Thank-you for the help.
I notice poor battery performance only when i play N-gage games for say an hour or so........

Maybe you too do the same..................
