Camera will not work after changing the housing (not even in the menus)

Hi, I have just had the housing crack and break when my van door blew into my arm and cracked the screen and the black housing. I have changed the housing and now it does not see the camera or when you open the lens cover it will not activate the camera. Please can someone can help me in fixing the problem.

friend i had the same prob.
now its working 100%

the original panel of n82 contains a magnet in its shutter to activate the camera.
u hav to use the old shutter or fix the same magnet in the new panel shutter.
just try it works..... 100%

Thank you for that info :o)) It explains a why it would not work and your spot on.

Just for info if someone has a future problem, You need to remove the silver housing that says Carl Zeiss and has the slider button. Inside after removal you will find in the slider mechanism a tiny magnet you need to remove it and place that magnet into your new silver housing, re-fit it into the slider mechanism (you might need a spot of super glue to hold the magnet in) fit it all back together and hay presto it works like a treat!!
