N86 Bug : FM Transmitter "Feature Not Supported" - How To Fix!
Some people on v10 on the N86 have been having problems with the FM transmitter not working, even if their country allows this.
I suffered this problem when buying mine from Nokia UK and shipped to the UK. To allow the FM transmitter to work do the following: Menu - Tools - Settings - General - Personalisation - Standby Mode - Standby Theme - > Choose Horizontal. Turn the phone off. Turn it back on again. FM transmitter works, you can now change the standby theme back to your preferred choice. Crazy bug.

Dude, Thanks. That worked like a charm. That saved me sooo much trouble. I just bought this phone 3 weeks ago and I have been having to restore factory settings to make it work again, and then going through and setting up the phone to my liking all over again, about 15 or 20 minutes work. Usually when I restart the phone or hook up the USB and add music or photos, the FM transmitter stops working. I have had to reset it 4 or 5 times now......what a headache. Thanks again.

No problems, this should be fixed in the new V11 firmware updated which should be rolled out to most devices soon.

Thanks for the help on this IJM. I now find that changing theme layout, switching off etc no longer works either. Really hope that v11 solves this.

I'm using V11.043 firmware and this problem still exists. I can't register with the Nokia Support Discussions forum because the site won't let me, so I can't register my frustration there. If Nokia reads this forum they should fix this annoying bug.

This maybe a country restriction on your handset.

No, it is not. FM transmitters are readily available in Australia and here is a link ( towards the bottom of the page) to me talking about the N79 transmitter with an Australian user: NOKIA N79 General Discussion - Nokia - Mobile Phones - Whirlpool Broadband Forums
In my case it is a persistent, annoying N86 bug, it seems. |

No problem, it's cured many peoples phones, but there has been a few reports of it not working on some handsets.
