N86 doesn't format....

I am beginning to think there is a big issue with this blooming phone.

In a bid to stop the phone crashing I thought I would clear the phone and re install from fresh, what a mistake that was.

This is a list of what I've tried so far to remove the apps, calendar entries etc.

* Connected in mass storage mode and "formatted" the internal phone mass memory (8GB)
* Restored factory settings from the phone.
* Soft & Hard resets
* Three button combo start up
* Re installed firmware from NSU

All remove time, date, settings but leave the installed apps and calendar entries on the phone.

Reinstalling firmware did nothing for the freezing whilst inputting text. The phone generally is now pretty sluggish and buggy.

Do we agree it's a trip to the NSC for a replacement? Or a return to Nokia for a refund and re purchase?

Can anyone think of any other methods to format the phones two internal memory's sections?

No mate, that's why I am thinking an exchange at NSC might give me a different PC!

It's pretty much un useable on any kind of text entry!

if you can get to a nsc and they will exchange then do it ijm :-) what have you got to loose buddy :-)

The fact my nearest NSC is an hour away! Ha.

What's the odds of them stocking N86's for a straight swap? They are advertising them on the CPW Website so shouldn't be a problem.

Beware the CPW product code, that's gonna be worse for updates than what you got now.

No mate, bought it from Nokia direct. So I fear CPW only stock CPW branded handsets. I shall make a few enquiries today with my local place, see what they stock.

Absolute nightmare this is, you have to enter text with predictive messaging off and very slowly so it doesn't crash. Crazy.
