Issues since firmware upgrade

OK, going to try to keep this short, but I need some advice:

1. Since my firmware upgrade to v20, OVI Maps has stopped working. It worked fine for a month, but then it stopped working It boots, then shuts down before the status bar reaches full. I upgraded to the new version 3.1 and I have the same problem.

2. I cannot upgrade or uninstall Shazam. My trial period ran out, I'm instructed to install a new version. Before the installation is complete, it gives me an error message, that "the file cannot be deleted". Same thing happens when I try to manually uninstall Shazam

3. Video issues. the 5 or 6 preinstalled videos simply don't play anymore. It can playback the audio, but not the video.

I'm starting to get annoyed with my N86. I love it, but i never had any of these problems with my old N82.

PS: important point: I debranded this N86 for the upgrade. Can this have anything to do with it?

I'm considering reinstalling the firmware again (the debranded version). Does anyone agree?

Thanks in advance.

Do a hard reset and then reinstall the debranded firmware. Do not restore settings from backup, only data - contacts, messages, photos, etc.

OK, so I assume I should do a backup with Ovi Suite, and save it for restoring contacts, data etc.

Then with *#7370* do a hard reset

Next, use Nokia Software Updater to reinstall the debranded software. (i.e. keep my *new* model number, don't revert to the original, right?)

Then restore all the data from the backup I created with Ovi Suite.

I consider myself an educated layman, but by no means an expert, so I'm just double-checking the detial as I have understood them.

Thanks!

Absolutely correct. It is possible that just doing the hard reset without reinstalling the firmware could cure your problem, but might as well go all the way.

Thanks again 93tid.

It worked perfectly without the reinstallation of the firmware.

I have an issue with NSU though. I updated to the newest Ovi Suite, and NSU was removed (probably because Ovi Suite now updates handset firmware within the application itself).

So, I re-installed NSU, but it doesn't work anymore. I get an error message, I assume, because Ovi Suite is now set up to do the firmware updates.

That's all fine with me, but what if I wanted to do a firmware reinstall??? Ovi doesn't offer the possibility. It just checks the firmware and says it is up-to-date, without a possibility to reinstall.

Any ideas?? Maybe I'll post this subject separately.
Thanks again!

I stay away from anything with OVI in its name, just doesn't work. I use the PC Suite and have no issues whatsoever with NSU.
