Sure thing. I'm on the N900 now, so will check, and get back to you.

Im hoping this will be fixed with the final release software, because currently, its not much use at all apart from finding yourself.
Thanks for all of the information you have provided about Ovi Maps so far. It's far more than I've heard from any other source since everyone seems to just completely avoid it. As I learned from another (p)review, it seems that Ovi Maps on the N900 is something of a "lite" version and is quite limited (so far no map loading, no syncing with maps.ovi.com, what else is it missing?...). I guess, naively, I was expecting more of a full Ovi Maps 3.x implementation that matched what people know of the latest version on S60 devices. I hope that a 3.x implementation for the N900 is in the works.

I do a lot of hiking out in the middle of nowhere and to create the route I need to spend some time setting waypoints on Ovi Maps based on my hiking map. This isn't so bad to do on a desktop/laptop with http://maps.ovi.com/ (and then send the route to the N900, if it supported syncing), but I imagine it would be a bit of a pain trying to enter all of the waypoints in the N900 itself since the display is much smaller and input is less precise.

But anyway, it would be great to see what the interface is actually like for entering destinations on a route and seeing if it displays proper visual navigation (coloured lines on the map showing you how to get between each destination) and text directions for both driving and walking options. Thanks!

Micky...

Given you've had an N97 on v12 (which I found was pretty cool and sorted most my problems) - would you buy the N900 for £500 direct from Nokia? Is it worth the money and is there any substantiating the rumours around Maemo 6 and February 10?

I will cover routing soon. please remember, the software of these preview units is not complete, so there will obviously be things missing, or configurations not completed.

As you can see from my profile, I have already Pre-Ordered my N900, and its ordered direct from Nokia. I would say the N900 is worth every single penny of the asking price. The N900 has much more to offer over the N97, but at the moment, there are not that many applications available for it, but given time, this should improve.

As to Maemo6, I really don't know that much about it, and Im not reading too much into the N920 leaks at the moment, although i know it exists.

Correction. I have just heard from a Nokia employee, who is also a member here, so hopefully he will post too.

The N900 does indeed have a virtual keyboard, and it is possible to copy, and paste with keyboard closed.

Not had the time to test this, but will try and test it myself soon, but in the meantime, you may find these links useful..

Oh yeah, when she thaws out- if you've got a nice HDTV over there, can throw up some high quality video and film it with a good cam? Be sure to zoom in on the screen closely- not just framing the TV in the video, but really get in there so we can get a better idea how decent that TV out is?

Cheers, mate- enjoy that thing! :-D

It's a free service which allows you to connect to your PC and control it from anywhere in the world.
All functions except remote control itself will work, remote control requires IE (ActiveX), Firefox (xpl addon), Java, or HTTP. I think he's asking about the XPL addon

Micky, that's wonderful, thanks. Finally, a good calender and contact integration!

Those screenies looked good too, MUCH more touch friendly.

I might even be interested in a candybar version when it's out!

You should get a free N900 from Nokia tbh. No really, you should.

YouTube - N900 Preview Unit - Video Demos - Natural, Zoom & Macro

The actual recording quality is much better than that seen in this video. It looks as though youtube has lowered the quality quite substantially.

Will upload to Viddler, see if thats any better.
There be the HQ quality available in youtube and I most say
the video player in the N900 impress ! I like special the awsome macro option.
