Oh, just remembered one other thing - can you get the IR remote app and test its range? It needs to be a couple of meters at least to be particularly useful, and testers are reporting better distances than that, but would be nice to have a confirmation from someone I trust!

Ok guys, thanks again for your requests, and suggestions. Im expecting delivery of the N900 preview unit sometime today, so please be patient with me, as I will be starting the suggested tests in posted order in this thread, and also starting with a fully charged battery, so the first thing I will do when it arrives, is put it on charge, after a quick unboxing video of course.

Thanks again. This little lot should keep me busy for a while.!

Its arrived, and just waiting for it to reach room temperature before I film the unboxing and side by side comparison. Its ice cold at the moment, and keeps steaming up.

Micky, would love to know if you can get logmein to run on it (works well on N810). Also, could you test Hava player? I've got a box for you to connect to over here.

And please, please, please- can you test speaker quality with reference to 5800 and/or N95 for Spyda. ;-)

Oh yeah, when she thaws out- if you've got a nice HDTV over there, can throw up some high quality video and film it with a good cam? Be sure to zoom in on the screen closely- not just framing the TV in the video, but really get in there so we can get a better idea how decent that TV out is?

Cheers, mate- enjoy that thing! :-D

If your asking about them separately, then yes, Ovi Maps is already supported on Maemo 5, although according to reviews already out, its far slower than that available on S60 v5/Symbian v1

According to reviews already out by those who have actually used the device, multitasking is a breeze, and users have reported running 20+ apps with no apps crashing...

The only side effect, is the more apps you run simultaneously, the slower the device gets, but that is naturally to be expected.

No, I meant integration with contacts in Ovi Maps, as said. I'm not expecting it though since it's not a very established version yet.

Note that this thread is for Micky to try out, many people here are aware of reviews by others but want someone they trust to do them.

I too read that article and can confirm he said that, sounded very promising when compared to the GPS performance of the N97

Indeed guys, I will start testing this N900, starting with the speaker test first, and then go through this thread in order. Im currently charging the N900 now, and have uploaded a quick unboxing video, which for some reason, has turned out bloody awful, and not impressed at all. I blame a new video editing package Im trying. Last time i use that!
