Question Preview N900 unit arriving this week - Questions, Requests, Tests ?

I have a preview unit coming this week from Nokia, and thought I would start a new thread asking everyone what various things they wish to be tested on the N900?.

I must stress though, that the preview N900 unit I have coming is not running final firmware, ie, not the firmware it will be shipped with, but i hear a new firmware update for it shouldn't be too long till its ready.

please post any questions, suggestions, ideas, and alike what you would like me to test out, try etc on this N900, and I will do my very best to accommodate them all for you.

Battery performance is high on the list of priorities for testing.

Thanks

See if the battery cover creaks :p
But seriously, can you see if libc6 is the newest version? I've tried installing many apps in the SDK but it seems to have an old version of libc6 and I can't seem to upgrade it in the SDK.
Thanks in advance.

My main interest is in the GPS/Ovi Maps. It seems this area has received very limited coverage and I'm worried the reason is because it doesn't work very well. I'm specifically interested in the performance (I've seen and heard that it's very slow), ability to load maps onto the device so no data connection is needed for full functionality (apparently no version of Map Loader (yet?) supports the N900 so all mapping data must be downloaded on the fly), and any ways in which it differs from using http://maps.ovi.com/

Basically I'm expecting it to work on the N900 in a very similar way as http://maps.ovi.com/ with the addition of the GPS showing me where I am and following me (moving the map) as I travel along a route. If/when it is possible to load whole maps onto the N900, I'm also interested in any limitations it might have. For example, I've heard that in existing versions when you want to load a new country map you must unload the current country map. I believe the whole planet map is about 4 GB and so I would want to just load that all onto the N900 since it can easily fit.

So the ultimate question is, can I use Ovi Maps on the N900 just like it works at http://maps.ovi.com/ (browse maps, create routes, drive/walk option) without using any data connection?

Only one simple test Micky, as you already have a 5800, please compare the loudspeaker output quality of the two devices, thanks...

The N95 & the 5800 are almost the same in this respect, having an excellent quality speaker output, as they both use the same speaker component (the Danau speaker), unlike the N97, which has a poor-quality sound from its speakers by comparison as it uses a different (smaller) type.

As Micky no longer has an N95 I believe, the answer to my question should also serve to answer yours... :)

Is it possible to disable Flash in the web browser? Sometimes it's really nice to browse without flashing ads everywhere.

I've heard the Firefox add-on Adblock Plus works in the N900 browser. Maybe Flashblock does too (so you click on the Flash animation if you want it to play).
