Nokia UK - In Stock Ready to Ship

Nokia UK online

status changed from pre-order to in stock and ready to ship

ALMOST tempted to try one now ... but for the horror stories I have heard of Nokia online returns.

dyno - lets just say I'm curious, but think I will decide over the weekend whether to trust a purchased from Nokia Darect on the basis that it will more than likely be going back.

kruisler - out of interest was your 5800 returned for a replacement or a refund?

It's obtaining a refund if I wish to return the N900 that worries me. Precisely the reason I chose previously to place my preorder with Amazon.

Obtaining a refund from Nokia is the same as replacement process but it took them 30 days to give me my money back.

thanks guys, 30 days is reasonable. I've known it take two months and not without a fight at that!

I was confidentially informed rather bitterly by a N.O.UK staff-member who was due to lose their job, of the fact that Nokia Online UK (Mumbai division?) was in the process of being outsourced and that this was the reason that I had immense difficulty in obtaining a refund some while back.

“Nokia is crystallising its branded retail strategy, aiming at improving operational efficiency of its retail network. This requires revamping of the retail network” source

Rough Translation: "We're outsourcing where possible as we can then pay staff less than half what we needed to before..."

So... As long as you can understand the indian brand of spoken english and (probably much harder for the indian operators), they can understand you! ... You shouldn't have any problems...

Well, placed an order and paid for Express delivery at midnight last night. Expected it to ship today but status still states 'item has not shipped' as of now.

Do I need to chase the order tomorrow? Should it have shipped?

I was hoping for it to get here on Wed latest but not sure that's looking likely now :(
