With the simple brightness app, you can keep your N900 on a low brightness for most operations
and then quickly switch to full brightness for other tasks when required.

Another app is 3G/2G selection mode applet. Also from the status bar,
you can switch from Dual Mode to either 3G or 2G.

I tend to prefer to have everything firing full power and charge every night.
Plus, I have noticed a definite improvement in battery life over a period of time - so not an issue for me

Having said that, for people trying to eke out as much time from a single charge, hopefully this will help.

For those of us on AT&T the 2G/3G app could do wonders for our battery (Since we can use the 3G on AT&T). Going to install now, will keep you posted on any improvements I notice.
